When it comes to wealth, people like to talk a big game, but few can claim to be on the level of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who at latest count had a net worth of $79.2 billion. But now 79-year-old Amancio Ortega, the owner of Zara, stands to overtake the top spot.

According to Huffington Post, today Ortega stole Gates's title for a brief time on Forbes's real-time billionaire rankings. Ortega's net worth officially exceeded $79.2 billion for a few all-too-brief moments, and now he's back down to "just" $78.6 billion—meaning as of right now, Gates and Ortega are battling it out for the title of richest person in the world.

Considering the insane popularity of Ortega's brainchild, we can't say we're all too surprised. This kind of wealth is something few people can even fathom; it's all the more impressive that Ortega has managed to build such a mountainous empire on a foundation of $25 tank tops.
