I Asked a Makeup Artist, Facialist, and Derm to Shop on Amazon—See Their Carts
Beauty experts, they’re just like us! Well, kind of. Of course, most of us don’t possess the professional know-how when it comes to prepping a celebrity for a red carpet sparkling with flashbulbs or assessing the health of a person’s complexion, but many of us do have one thing in common with the industry’s best makeup and skincare experts: Amazon! Despite having access to quite literally any product in the world, over the years I’ve discovered that even the most prestigious experts still count on plenty of products you can snap up during your next Amazon shopping binge.
In case you’re curious for some actual examples, I reached out to facialist Candace Marino, makeup artist Jamie Dorman and board-certified dermatologist Ellen Marmur for their signature Amazon shopping picks. Marino did add the caveat that she always recommends continuing to support small businesses, too, but if you’re looking for Amazon content, exclusively, right now, she still has your back with tons of great beauty picks. Keep scrolling! Everything beauty experts would snap up right this second is just below, plus quotes explaining why they feel they’re superior.
The Expert: Candace Marino, Celebrity Facialist
The Picks
"If you’re dealing with chronic acne, this is the only skincare routine I recommend. I’ve seen my clients’ skin completely transform in weeks using this routine which consists of a cleanser, antioxidant serum, resurfacing serum, moisturizer, and SPF. If you want results, this is where you’ll find them.”
"This is by far the most results-warranting neck product I’ve seen in my 15 years of recommending skincare. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles, helps reduce adipose tissue (aka—a double chin), and helps to simultaneously tighten, contour, and retexturize skin. No more tech neck!”
"ZitSticka makes a variety of pimple patches that reduce inflammation and redness while decreasing the size of breakouts overnight. They really do work, and they are great to have in your medicine cabinet in case of an emergency. They also help keep your hands off the pimple which can lead to long-term issues resulting from picking.”
The Expert: Jamie Dorman, Celebrity Makeup Artist
The Picks
"This product packs a one-two punch in fighting acne and clogged pores in addition to interrupting damage from environmental aggressors such as blue light, car exhaust, cigarette smoke, and small particulates. I use this before I put on my moisturizer or sun protection for the day to see smoother skin that is ready to take on the outside world.”
"Not only is this oil packed with Catalina A, C, and E from the plum seed, but it also moisturizes the skin and the hair while smelling absolutely divine! I love to put this oil over my moisturizer when I need extra hydration and in damp hair to prevent frizz.”
"This intense repair serum was made for post-procedure skin recovery, but it can also be used anytime your skin needs some intensive care. Its combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid make for tighter feeling skin, reduces the appearance of fine lines, and improves the skin’s texture.”
The Expert: Ellen Marmur, Board Certified Dermatologist and Founder of MMSkincare
The Picks
"The MMSphere is a wonderful, FDA-approved LED home device that works hand-in-hand with these MMSkincare Masks and Serums. It is the only high-end LED device with nine light settings, music, a free companion App, and a large enough treatment area for your face, neck, and chest. You can multitask while you illuminate your skincare. I like to use the red light at night to soothe my skin before bed and reduce redness like NASA uses pure red LED for their astronauts to help them sleep and maintain their health.”
