4 Simple Yet Chic 10-Minute Outfits That Will See Me Through All My Weekend Plans
It's finally coming—the long awaited bank holiday weekend. Lazy mornings, afternoons in the pub with friends and dinners that go late into the night are all in order. Do you know what I haven't scheduled into my weekend plans? Wasting hours trying to figure out what to wear. This weekend I want dressing to be blissfully simple—but, of course, I still want to have a look that I'm proud to be seen in. What a relief, then, that this season it seems like simple is very much in style.
After doing some extensive Instagram stalking, I think I've come up with four outfit formulas that deliver on both the time-saving and the fashionable front. Many of these looks are built around pieces you probably already have in your closet, but if you don't, then now's the perfect time to invest—these are styles that will serve you well in the months and years to come. And when I say "invest," I don't mean you have to spend all of your Friday pay check—our high street favourites have plenty of tempting options, too. Scroll on to find my bank holiday-ready looks to see you through the weekend.
1. A Day Shopping and Lunching In Town: Straight-Leg Jeans + Cardigan + Loafers
Style Notes: Jeans have to be one of the easiest pieces to reach for if you're looking for an effortless outfit. Give your blue denim a polished upgrade by styling it with a buttoned up cardigan, loafers and trench to shield against a spring shower.
Shop the Look:
A cashmere and wool cardigan is well worth the investment—you'll find this useful all year round.
Trust me, you'll want a lightweight trench like this even in the warm months. We all know a sudden rainstorm is a British staple.
2. An Afternoon at the Pub: Slip Skirt + Light Knit + Trainers
Style Notes: If you haven't bought a slip skirt yet, now is the time. While there's still a chill in the air, pair it with a sweatshirt and jacket, and when warmer days come, you'll be reaching for it time and time again with a tank and sandals. Finish off the outfit with trainers and you have yourself and casual yet put-together look that is perfect for an afternoon at the pub or with friends.
Shop the Look:
Layer underneath in case it gets warm enough to take off the knit and tie it over your shoulders.
I think the contrast of the satin skirt with the suede trainers would look so beautiful.
3. A Dinner Date: Midi Dress + Heeled Mules
Style Notes: Celebrate sunny days lightweight midi dress styled with one of the season's top trending shoes—heeled mules. Elegant yet relaxed, it's a truly perfect weekend look and works especially well if you have evening plans with a partner or friends this weekend.
Shop the Look:
This dress can be styled in so many ways, for weekends, work, weddings and everything in between.
A minimalist's dream shoe—and a heel height that you can comfortably last in throughout your day's activities.
Perfect for layering over the dress if the temperature drops.
This get bonus points for being made from recycled materials.
4. A Family Affair: Tailored Set + Trainers
Style Notes: A tailored set isn't just for the office. This white set paired with black trainers and a sleek bag can work for any event, from drinks to a walk, and dinner to a day with the family.
Shop the Look:
Like the waistcoat, you could also pair this with so many different pieces.
Tortoiseshell sunglasses are such a cool finishing touch.
The Puzzle bag is definitely a worthy investment piece.
The influencer-approved trainer that isn't going anywhere.
