Dua Lipa Broke All the Wedding Guest Fashion Rules With Her Sheer White Dress

Normally, I say to hell with fashion "rules," but a wedding is certainly one place where I'll happily abide by tradition as a guest—after all, it's not my day to shine. The unspoken guidelines include not wearing white and not upstaging the couple, and they're easy enough to follow for one evening.

That said, when the groom specifically asks you to wear white and dresses you in his own designs, that's a whole different story. This was clearly the case at the wedding of designer Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri in Charleval, France. Nearly all of the attendees wore white to the celebrity-packed event, and the lucky ones, including Dua Lipa, were dressed by Jacquemus himself. Her completely sheer, underwear-exposing dress transformed in my mind from a rule breaker to the perfect French fashion moment. Miniskirts aren't typical wedding guest fare, but model Mica Argañaraz pulled it off flawlessly.

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
