Activewear Outfits for Rock Climbing
Sure, we love yoga, running, biking, and swimming in the summer, but it’s time to add something else to the mix when it comes to our outside activities, and we’ve found just the one: rock climbing. Whether we’re heading to the indoor rock wall at our local gym or we’re venturing into the great outdoors for some light bouldering or more extensive hikes and roped climbing routes, rock climbing is the name of the game this summer, and we can’t get enough.
Unlike other activities, however, rock-climbing outfits require a little more focus than some others. We want a look with much less fuss than we might opt for on our jogs or at our morning yoga classes, one that features a little more layering for when the sun goes down in the afternoon, and pieces that won’t bunch or tuck when we slip into that harness. We’re opting for sleek black sets and head-to-toe colored ones, we’re layering up with windbreakers and bombers, and we’re seeking lightweight sneakers.
We’ve rounded up a little rock-climbing outfit inspiration below. And even if you’ve never tried the sport, these chic looks might just change your mind.
Suit up in a pair of classic black leggings and a two-tone windbreaker. Add a little pop with subtle sneakers in dusty rose.
Look extra chic in a matching set in jet black. To make it streetwear-friendly, top it with a bomber jacket for when you’re off the wall.
Keep warm for those crisp summer afternoons with long pants and a long top styled with a lightweight puffer vest that’s just the right amount of cozy.
Even with a black-and-white look, you can stand out in the crowd. Seek bottoms with a subtle star pattern and tops with a micro stripe, and you’ll be print mixing like a pro.
Navy and black are the perfect pairing, especially when it comes to activewear. Forget every rule you ever heard about the duo: We are wearing this combo all summer long.
Red, white, and blue have never looked as good as it does in activewear with a sporty color-block look that wows. Finish it off with a metallic jacket for that added pop.
Go big or go home when it comes to your leggings. Don’t take yourself too seriously when it comes to your activewear look whether you’re rock climbing or not.
When going for an allover solid palette, consider a pop with a classic color like red. We love a bright pair of leggings finished off with tones of gray and black.
Keep it casual when hitting the rock gym in track pants and a long-sleeve crop top. If you know you’ll be suiting up in special footwear, roll up in more comfortable slides for an athleisure look you love.
Sometimes all you need is that little pop of color to turn heads. With an all-black look, consider a sports bra or leggings with a single color band.
Up the ante with black leggings that boast a few bold stripes. We love a coordinated top tied around the waist for layering as well.
Leggings with built-in details are a must. Consider bottoms with mesh panels, color-blocking, or some kind of cutout pattern for extra ventilation and a stylish detail.
You can never go wrong with all black. Especially in the city. It’s all in the details with this one, though, so now’s the time to shop for those leggings with extra texture, ribbing, or piped edges.
For the sartorial risk-takers, might we suggest a pair of neon leggings? What’s more—why not opt for the matching crop top too?
Keep it comfortable with activewear you’ll want to wear when you’re not rock climbing as well. Go for a sporty red-and-black bottom paired with a graphic top that you can wear with leggings and jeans alike.
