Rochelle Just Told Me the 5 Essential Pillars of Every Autumn Capsule Wardrobe
There’s no escaping the fact that when you’re in the entertainment industry, part of your job is looking presentable. Polished, even. And when you’ve been in the industry for the best part of two decades, such as Rochelle Humes, it makes sense that you’d know what kind of clothes looks good. Rochelle perfectly treads the fine line between being accessible but still aspirational. Her own wardrobe is a mix of the classic high-street shops we all love (Zara, Mango and Topshop), but take a quick glance at her Instagram account and you’ll spot she’s also a fan of the new It brand, Bottega Veneta.

It’s this eye for great pieces—no matter their price point—that makes her the perfect collaborator. The star became an ambassador for New Look in 2018 and has handpicked her favourite pieces every season for the high-street store. This season’s line is all about the perfect autumnal capsule collection, with items such as a black midi skirt, a teddy-bear coat and a great pair of croc-effect boots. But the standout piece for me? The chicest denim boilersuit. When I speak to her about her newest line with the high-street brand, it’s this piece that she’s keen to tell me about, as well as all her other must-have items.
The collection, she tells me, is about pieces every woman needs in her wardrobe. "These are the things that you can style over and over again,” says Humes. Her personal take on the ultimate autumn capsule wardrobe includes "a good knit, a roll-neck, a denim jumpsuit, obviously a good coat and a pair of ankle boots.”
While the line overall is a much more muted colour palette, it definitely plays into the new-minimalism approach to dressing this season. Rochelle even mentions that she’s a big fan of caramel colours, which she’s featured in one of the roll-necks and coats. However, a big question I need to know the answer to is her tips for making things look expensive on a high-street budget, as she does it so well. "I think colour is the best idea and fabric. Know what to invest in and what’s going to wash out well.”
Finally, if she had to pick, what would be her ultimate desert-island item for autumn? "A blazer,” she answers. "I think they finish every look off.” While I couldn’t agree more, I’ve still got my eye on that denim boilersuit. To shop our favourite pieces from the collection, keep scrolling.
