This Fashion-Girl Obsession Just Got a Major Makeover

Circa 2011, you couldn’t walk past a pack of fashion girls without spotting a pair of Prada Baroque sunnies. The ornate (usually) black pairs were standouts in their own right, and in a year when everyday statement jewelry was also trending high, these can’t-miss-me sunnies provided the same casual glamour everyone was looking for.

Although the brand’s seen plenty of iterations since then, the update to the now-iconic Pradas arrived today, and they’re perhaps even more detailed and bold than the originals.

While hardly in line with what its new name suggests, the Prada Minimal-Baroque collection does take style cues from nature. According to the press release, the fresh styles mimic flowers and foliage motifs made famous in the Baroque era, and they’ve taken on hardware detail and a bit of deep color-blocking.

Seeing as it’s been awhile since these Prada frames have been as ubiquitous as they once were, we figure this “minimal” Baroque makeover could trigger a comeback for these not-for-the-faint-of-heart styles.
