I Worked as a Nordstrom Stylist for Years—This Is My Cold-Weather Capsule

Jennifer Sattler is an expert in putting together capsule wardrobes. This probably doesn't come as much of a surprise given her experience working for years in the Nordstrom styling department and with her current role as a stylist and content creator with her brand, Closet Choreography. In fact, we recently tapped Sattler to give intel on the edited assortment of items that make up her classic capsule wardrobe. Next up, she's offering up insights into the pieces that define her fall capsule wardrobe—particularly for the transitional weather ahead.

"Make a fall capsule wardrobe with eight fashion-forward pieces you can mix and match to wear when it's warm but have all the feels of fall," she said. "Take these ageless outfits from work to the weekend."

Keep scrolling to check out the fall staples Sattler swears by, complete with visual and shopping inspiration.

2. Vest

On Sattler: Rag & Bone vest

"This is the most fashionable piece in the fall capsule. Choose a tailored style you can wear as a top too. A neutral solid-color vest is the easiest to mix and match, but one that's made to match your print blazer is fun too." — Sattler

3. White Blouse

On Sattler: Veronica Beard blouse

"Can you wear white after Labor Day? Yes! As we transition into fall, you can still wear white tops like the ones in this capsule. If you want to wear them with white bottoms, switch your shoes to boots and add lots of textured layers." — Sattler

4. Bootcut Jeans

"A slip skirt cut on the bias is the most feminine and flattering skirt silhouette that never fails my clients." — Sattler

6. Check Blazer

On Sattler: Rag & Bone blazer

"The blazer's pattern will determine the color story for this capsule. A check pattern plays well with all of the other plain pieces in the capsule and keeps the combinations interesting." — Sattler

7. Black Tee

On Sattler: Frame tee

"This item is easy to layer. If you don't want the color to fade, spend a little more on a quality pima cotton style or a fabrication with some stretch." — Sattler

8. White Denim
