If fashion people are wearing boots right now, there's a high likelihood that they're donning sleek knee-high styles. Tall boots have been on the menu for a few seasons now, but 2022 is solidifying them as a footwear staple. As with any item that manages to remain popular year after year, how fashion people are wearing boots has evolved. While knee-high boots with a miniskirt was the go-to combination last fall, the boot outfits I've spotted recently are getting less skin baring but—it should be said—no less cool.

Yep, longer skirts are now the default option among the style set when they're wearing knee-high boots. Personally, I've been loving this combination all fall, and I know I'm not alone. Bella Hadid also stepped out in a similar look during fashion week, and I've spotted countless people on my social media feeds doing the same. We called out maxi and knee-length skirts as big runway trends this year, and although the hemlines can be tricky to approach, tall boots make them refreshingly approachable.

Below, see the midi-skirt outfits that everyone in fashion is wearing with fall's number one boot trend right now, and re-create the look with our shopping picks.

In between the many shows she walked in during this past fashion month, Bella Hadid styled a look that's refreshingly simple but ultra-chic. She paired a denim skirt with tall brown boots and finished it off with a plaid trench coat.

Edgy boots like Balenciaga's Le Cagole pair create a modern-day grunge feel with a black denim skirt.

Traditionally sweet items like an off-the-shoulder top with traditionally tough items like rubber boots create such a cool contrast.

The street style scene in Paris may have had its fair share of micro minis, but it was also filled with this longer skirt-boot combination, too, proving that you don't have to bare it all to be on-trend.

I'm clearly a fan of this combination, too. Here, I added a belt and a coordinating jacket to mine for a spin on how the viral Miu Miu pleated skirts were styled on the runway.

A midi skirt, cropped jacket, and tall boots might jut be the most 2022 way to wear double denim.

Maxi cargo skirts are another trend that's quickly on the rise. The utility style looks ultra chic when paired with a turtleneck top and structured tall boots.
