What to Pack to Look Chic as Hell in Mexico
Whether you’re planning an overdue trip with your family or a celebratory vacation with your closest friends, a ticket to Mexico is always a crowd-pleaser. From beautiful beaches to authentic food and drink, if you’re able to book a getaway to Mexico, I highly recommend it. I recently visited Playa del Carmen with the Thompson Hotel Group and was able to stay at two of its luxury locations. From sunrise yoga to a quick day trip to Tulum, today I’m sharing my unforgettable experience including recommendations on the coolest activities and what to wear to look incredibly stylish while vacationing in the vibrant city.
One of the many things I truly enjoyed during my stay in Playa was the vast amount of activities available in the area and the luxury accommodations courtesy of the hotel. Since I stayed at both Thompson Playa del Carmen properties, I was able to get a taste of the Main House (located in a central lively location) and the 27-room Beach House just a few blocks away, which is more intimate and oceanfront. Ahead I’m sharing my three-day experience along with everything I packed for the incredible getaway. Disclaimer: I’m already antsy to book my next visit to Playa and stay at Thompson’s Beach House.
These Cotton Citizen “trousers” have become my go-to for long flights lately. They’re slightly dressier than leggings but are basically glorified sweatpants. I highly recommend them for traveling.
This is me after enjoying a private dinner at the Thompson’s Beach House restaurant, C Grill. I still think about the chef’s award-winning mole dish I had that night. So delicious—thankfully I wore a loose-fitting dress that evening.
The best way to start your day during a vacation? Sunrise yoga is the answer. Thompson’s main house offers several yoga classes on their rooftop and a “think meditation” courses. I always pack a fitness look when vacationing and truthfully rarely use it, so I was happy put this new JoyLab set to use during my trip.
One of the activities I’m recommending to all my friends traveling to Tulum this year is a visit to one of the 4000-plus cenotes. The easiest way to set is up is to arrange it through Living Dreams, we had one of the best tour guides and learned so much while swimming through some of the clearest waters in the underworld. Bonus: Your skin will feel unbelievable after this activity.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Mexico without a mezcal tasting followed by a night out. After our tasting, we hit up Catch for dinner, located on the rooftop of the main property. The food, the energy, and the vibe are just what you need for an eventful evening.
This floral crop top situation was perfect for our last brunch on the roof at Thompson’s main house followed by shopping in the local markets and stores, where I scored the best colorful bags.
Available in sizes 0 to 3.
Nothing makes me happier than a Saturday afternoon spent lounging at the pool and Thompson’s rooftop situation is prime. From a swim-up taco bar to poolside sushi, I received the royal treatment while soaking up the sun.
Top and String Bikini Bottoms ($79) available in sizes XS to XL.
A little white dress makes for one of the easiest outfits when you're on vacation somewhere warm. Whether you add a pair of vintage boots like I did or pair the mini with simple sandals, you're sure to look stylish in an effortless way.
