Iskra Lawrence Told Us About Her Stunning New Unretouched Campaign

Aerie is known for its famously unretouched campaigns—which is to say that it's synonymous with beautiful "real" women. The brand's latest ad, just released today, is no exception: It features Iskra Lawrence, Aly Raisman, Yara Shahidi, and Rachel Platten.

Eager to learn more, we went straight to the source and tapped Lawrence to get the scoop on the latest campaign. "Being one of the faces of the Aerie Real campaign has been amazing and one of the highlights of my career to date," Lawrence told Who What Wear. "Aerie was one of the first brands that I felt completely understood what I stood for as a model and my vision for moving the industry away from retouching and perpetuating unrealistic ideas of what women look like."

Since Aerie is all about empowering women, we asked Lawrence about what she looks for in female role models. "I think the qualities that all of my personal role models share are compassion, confidence, determination, and a strong sense of self," she told us. "Whether it has been my mum, my close friends, other models I’ve worked with, the people I am most inspired by are the ones that are unapologetically themselves and encourage me to be the best and truest version of myself." How can you possibly argue with that? Read on to see the brand-new unretouched Aerie campaign.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
