Stripes: A Shopping and Styling Guide to the Most Reliable Print

The big-money questions in fashion are of perpetual relevance: Which print should one back for the new season? How to wear stripes? To stripe or not to stripe at all? Is gingham cooler than floral dresses now? Press pause, and let’s clear up one general misconception: Stripes won’t ever lose their cool factor. Stripes will always be “in.” They’ve migrated from bring an occasional flourish to being a mainstay in the fashion conversation.

Just ask former U.S. Vogue colleagues Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster, who set up their brand La Ligne around the pattern. “No matter the season, stripes proved to be timeless, classic staples,” Boster told British Vogue. And so the simple stripe has transcended the trend stratosphere as it proves to have mileage way beyond the 110 mph pace of the seasonal circuit. So how should you wear stripes now?
