If there’s one thing you’ve learned after years of wardrobe wins and misadventures, it’s that the relationship you form with your jeans is a unique and personal one. Sure, you’ve lent girlfriends your most coveted leather jacket or swapped mini bags on a Saturday night without batting an eyelash, but does trading jeans garner similar sartorial results? Bloggers Rima Vaidila of Fire on the Head, Grasie Mercedes of Style Me Grasie, and Rachel Nguyen of That’s Chic put the theory to the test by styling the same three pairs of Levi’s (501® CT, 711, and 721) with nine denim looks they can’t wait to wear into the fall.
Keep scrolling to check out how they styled their Levi's.
How Rachel Wore Them: “High-waisted jeans are the most flattering of all the fits. I wear them day in and night out. It’s the best when you can roll out of bed in a striped T-shirt and tuck it into a pair of high-waisted jeans. The long cardigan keeps it casual but still put together for fall.”
How You Can Wear Them: “Add a skinny belt. Try them out with a pair of stilettos or Chelsea boots, too!”
How Grasie Wore Them: “I always love pairing high-waist jeans with a crop top. I rolled up my jeans to show off my fun boots and layered the whole look with an army-green trench. Perfect for fall in L.A.!”
How You Can Wear Them: “You can never go wrong with shorter tops, or longer tops tucked into your high-waist denim. Anything too long that covers the fact that your jeans are high-waist will lose the effect of the silhouette.”
How Rima Wore Them: “This is 100% an everyday look for me. The black, white, gray, denim and leather make me feel right at home. The messy roll cuff is an essential for me and looks even cooler when paired with simple sneakers. My style, for the most part, is very tomboy, so pairing simple, boyish layers with a sleek, sexy skinny jean and leather jacket feels very cool-girl to me.”
How You Can Wear Them: “High-rise fits are perfect for tucking and showing off your waist. You can keep it simple with easy layers or get a little trendier with a bulky, cropped knit—classic and a win on every body type.”
How Rachel Wore Them: “This look was my favorite because it was the most playful. It’s great and polished. I wanted to feel like a chic Western babe, so I paired different shades of denim.”
How You Can Wear Them: “Wear boyfriend jeans with something unexpected (like silver ankle boots!) to maybe find a new boyfriend.”
How Grasie Wore Them: “I love the juxtaposition of wearing more casual-looking boyfriend jeans with high pumps. And fall is all about layers, so this top and sweater accomplish that look. Mixing boyish styles with feminine accents is my go-to.”
How You Can Wear Them: “Rolling up the bottoms and pairing them with tall pumps always gives them a fresh feel. Also, in cooler months pairing them with high-heeled boots is great too.”
How Rima Wore Them: “I like to show a teeny bit of skin between my top and jeans when they're a baggier fit. My ‘skinny on bottom, baggy on top’ approach to dressing swaps when it comes to boyfriend fit. You can get away with a tight sweater or tee when your jeans are looser. I always pair BF jeans with a little heel. The little bandana keeps the look a little more fun and less business.”
How You Can Wear Them: “The darker wash of these CT boyfriend jeans feels very fresh and perfect for darker fall layers. The bandana adds a playful element to this look. The key to rocking a bandana is to not overthink it. Just roll, loosely tie, and go. There’s no wrong way to do it.”
How Rachel Wore Them: “I love a good skinny jean that is comfortable to wear and simultaneously sucks you in. For fall, neckties are the chicest touch for me. Top it off by pairing a plaid shirt with a sleek suede trench.”
How You Can Wear Them: “Ankles are sexy—we shouldn’t take exposed ankles for granted. So give your skinnies a good roll or two.”
How Rima Wore Them: “Adding a neutral-colored layer, be it a navy oversize cardigan or camel coat, elevates a Canadian tux. Mixing in little details like the gold brooch and cool ankle booties adds a little somethin’-somethin’ to make the simple outfit a bit more interesting.”
How You Can Wear Them: “Pair varying washes and keep the darker on the bottom. Plus, denim jackets are the perfect fall layer! Not too bulky, but warmer than just a T-shirt. The camel coat is the perfect neutral pair to the all-denim look and keeps it looking chic instead of costumey.”
How Grasie Wore Them: “Wearing denim on denim is one of my favorite trends, but I like to break up the denim with prints like this plaid flannel. This particular jacket stole my heart with the ‘Me’ detail in the front. Style Me Grasie… Yes!”
How You Can Wear Them: “Plaid is also the ultimate fall print that transitions nicely into holiday dressing as well. Another trick for breaking up denim on denim is a cinched sweater around your waist, and a pop of color, here in the form of red pumps!”
