The European style set is filled with primo sartorial inspiration with silhouettes that often feature forward pieces mixed with modern classics. In fact, one of our writers recently went to the UK in August and shared some of the trends she saw. To expand on that, we just received additional notes from one of our go-to experts, Susie Wright. She’s a stylist and the blogger behind So Susie. She also worked as a Nordstrom buyer for years, so her insight on trends and shopping picks is of utmost interest.

Wright took a trip to the UK last month and spotted a variety of easy-to-style trends. "I love doing ‘blog research’ in different trend-setting cities,” she said.

Keep scrolling to check out the trends Wright is loving and how she is wearing the looks after visiting Europe.

Sweaters Tied Over Shoulders

On Wright: Vince dress; J.Crew sweater

"It might be due to the unpredictable London weather [even when I went in August], but everyone was wearing a sweater loosely tied around their shoulders, and it looked so chic."

Green, Green, Green

On Wright: Banana Republic dress; Vince sandals

"I was surprised to see that the color green is still trending, and in London, I saw green coats, tops, and handbags. Since I’ve been back, I’ve noticed it’s everywhere in all my favorite stores! This color is still trending for fall 2022."

Striped Knits

On Wright: Velvet sweater; Aritzia trousers

"I guess stripes are always a classic! You just can’t go wrong with a slightly oversize striped sweater or a shorter one worn with denim or trousers. Another option is to tie one over your shoulders in the evening."

Loose Shirting

On Wright: Citizens of Humanity shirt; Mother jeans

"One of the best casual looks I saw was on a cute style girl who was standing just outside our hotel. She had on an oversized shirt, loose trousers and a baseball hat. So easy."

Oversize Blazers

On Wright: Open Edit blazer; Norma Kamali dress

"Blazers were absolutely everywhere. I noticed one very stylish girl wearing a blazer over a tighter knit dress and a baseball hat. Then, around the corner, I spotted another girl with denim and a T-shirt (and sneakers). In both cases, it was slightly oversized. They looked great."

Relaxed Trousers

On Wright: J.Crew cardigan; Aritzia trousers

"It’s a trend here in the U.S. as well, but relaxed trousers worn with sneakers, loafers and even heels were on full display in London—mostly with T-shirts, since it was still pretty warm there. When the temps cool down, add a loose sweater."

Sneakers

On Wright: Reiss jacket; Golden Goose sneakers

"I suppose since Londoners are used to walking everywhere, it makes sense that stylish sneakers were seen with everything from denim to trousers to dresses. It might be time to add a new pair."
