I Want to Look Elegant and Feel Cosy This Winter—9 Anti-Trend Outfits I Know Will Nail the Brief
In order to be well-prepared for winter, I’ve saved nine chic outfits spotted on my favourite influencers, to recreate them when the season finally arrives. Scroll down to see them here.

We’re still in autumn here in the UK, but the temperature is already decreasing day by day. As someone who works in fashion, this change in weather has, of course, got me thinking about the outfits I want to wear from now on and well into the winter season. I have to admit, I’m guilty of prioritising practicality whenever it’s cold outside, wanting nothing more than to bundle up underneath a simple fleece or puffer coat. And whilst there’s definitely nothing wrong with this, for winter 2025, I want all of my outfits to be equal parts practical and elegant.
In order to be well prepared, I’ve already started saving the chic and refined looks that I’ve spotted on my favourite Instagram influencers, with plans to recreate them when the winter season finally arrives. And they have me wishing away the transitional season and actually looking forward to the cold weather. For winter 2025 specifically, chic dressers, from Paris to Norway, are focusing on creating looks that still feel elevated, but put cosiness and comfort at the forefront. Think classic wool coats styled with chunky ‘cool-girl’ boots or slouchy double-denim co-ords worn with sleek pointed flats. It’s all about looking cool and stylish whilst still feeling cosy and warm.
Keep scrolling to discover the nine cosy—yet effortlessly chic—outfits to copy for winter 2025 and beyond.
9 Elegant But Practical Outfit Ideas I’ve Added to My Winter Moodboard:
1. Boxy Coat + Tailored Trousers + Chelsea Boots
Style Notes: Charcoal grey has my heart again this season, and I’m planning to re-create this head-to-toe monochrome look as soon as I possibly can. Add some chunky Chelsea boots to contrast the sleek tailoring and you’re set.
Shop the Look:
2. Chunky Cardigan + Knitted Skirt + Knee-High Boots
Style Notes: Whilst it’s still too early to pull out your wool coats, try out a chunky knit cardigan and skirt look that can be worn on its own now, and then be layered when it gets chilly.
Shop the Look:
3. Wool Blazer + Button-Up Shirt + Leather Trousers
Style Notes: I’ve been wearing blazers all autumn, and I have no plans of stopping when the temperature drops. For winter, I’ll be looking for thick wool iterations that can double as outerwear and pairing them with buttery soft leather trousers.
Shop the Look:
4. Wool Coat + Bucket Hat + Mules
Style Notes: Sylvie proves that sometimes, less is more with her white coat, bucket hat and simple tights and mules ensemble.
Shop the Look:
5. Leather Bomber Jacket + Midi Skirt + Boat Shoes
Style Notes: I’m so excited to get my leather separates out for autumn, and with the right layering techniques, they can work just as easily for the peak of winter as well. Take a cue from Debora and style a distressed leather bomber with a classic pencil skirt to earn serious style points.
Shop the Look:
6. Denim Shirt + Jeans + Pointed Flats
Style Notes: When in doubt, double denim is an easy way to look put-together with minimal effort. I love the grey iteration pictured above, and I especially love this more casual outfit paired with dressy pointed flats.
Shop the Look:
7. Cropped Jacket + Denim Maxi Skirt + Chunky Loafers
Style Notes: There's no time more suited for a maxi skirt than in winter ans when stylish people want to look cool, they opt for denim iterations that feel as comfy as they look elevated.
Shop the Look:
8. Wool Coat + Knitted Dress + Low Heels
Style Notes: Knitted dresses are warm and cosy, but I often find it hard to make them look chic. When I want to dress myself up, I’ll be copying Anouk’s elegant formula of a knit dress, a belted long coat, and low heels for a look that I can wear in or out of the office.
Shop the Look:
9. Cropped Trench Coat + Bermuda Shorts + Slingbacks
Style Notes: Before we delve into full winter, I’ll be getting as much use out of my Bermuda shorts as possible before I need to pack them away for the season. A cropped trench and some chunky socks will make the outfits look equal parts timeless and cool.

Yes, you can style shorts in the colder weather.
