I'm Picky AF About T-Shirts, But This One Brand Never Disappoints Me

It won't disappoint you, either.

As I've gotten older, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the transformative power of impeccable wardrobe basics—namely, the often-overlooked T-shirt and tank top. These are the foundational garments that make or break a look, whether they're worn alone or layered under other pieces. Over the past year, I’ve taken on the mission of finding the perfect versions—trying on countless cuts, fabrics, and fits in search of that elusive blend of polish and comfort. The search finally ended this April when I discovered the Amsterdam-based brand Flore Flore.

It happened in Paris, as I wandered through Galeries Lafayette. Amid the sea of designers, a display of minimalist yet striking tops caught my eye—and quite literally stopped me in my tracks. There was something about them: the quality, the structure, the seemingly effortless chic that made them look significantly more expensive than they were. I knew immediately I had to try them. Still, it wasn’t until I returned to New York (and yes, missed out on the VAT refund—rookie mistake) that I finally placed my order. And I’m so glad I did.

Flore Flore is on the pricier side for simple tees and tanks, but there’s a good reason for it. The fit, the feel, the finishing—they’re all leagues above the standard basic. So if you're curious to learn about which specific Flore Flore styles have earned a permanent spot in my rotation, along with honest reviews and a few more elevated essentials your wardrobe can benefit from, keep reading.

What I Tried From Flore Flore

Bibi Cami Top

My Review: I don’t know if it’s just me, but finding a white tank top that's non-ribbed and not see-through feels nearly impossible these days. That’s why I loved Flore Flore’s Hillie top. It’s lightweight yet provides full coverage—no visible bra lines in sight. The delicate spaghetti straps also surprised me with how sturdy they felt, and unlike many other styles, they actually stayed in place on my shoulders. While I don’t usually wear it on its own, I love styling it under a cardigan or an oversize leather jacket to elevate the look.

My Review: As an editor, it’s my job to be honest—and that means calling out a favorite when one truly earns it. Of all the Flore Flore tops I’ve tried, the Hillie tank stands out as the one. With its wide, substantial straps and clean, rounded neckline, it strikes the perfect balance between structure and simplicity. The hem hits just right, allowing me to easily tuck it into any pair of trousers or jeans while leaving just the right amount of fabric to drape naturally—a small detail that makes a big difference in creating that effortlessly polished look. What really sets it apart, though, is how it holds me in and smoothes everything out.

Esme Tank Top

My Review: With a higher neckline and thicker straps, this muscle tank top felt more modest and refined than an average tank top right out of the box. It ran true to size and managed to be both fitted and forgiving, snug and thick, with the perfect amount of stretch. Unlike a regular tank top, this muscle tank can be tucked into trousers or a pencil skirt and worn to the office.

Jill Baby Tee

My Review: Recently, I've been really loving high V-neck tops. There’s something about them that feels incredibly polished and sophisticated, offering a more mature take compared to regular or low V necklines. So when I discovered that Flore Flore had this high V-neck tee, I just had to give it a try—and I absolutely loved it. It’s made from the same soft organic cotton as the other tops I tried on, making it thick and snug without feeling heavy or tight. The sleeves fit beautifully on the shoulders, and the hem is just the right length for tucking into my mid-rise Khaite jeans. It gets an A+ from me.
