I'm a Fashion Dad, and I Took a Little Trip to Montauk With Nanit—Here's What I Wore and Experienced

I'm a self-described fashion dad. I work in fashion and adore clothes, and I also love to find cool new pieces and products for my 20-month-old daughter, who is my everything. On that note, I have a list of coveted baby items that I consistently recommend to new parents because they've become constants in my parenting life, and yes, some of them are from Nanit. The baby monitor brand has built a cult following for its crystal-clear video (the night vision is incredible—crisp enough to see my daughter's eyes) and its easy-to-use app, which can track sleep patterns and offer alerts for movement and noise. It's honestly given us peace of mind as parents, so you can imagine my excitement when I was lucky enough to take a trip to Montauk with Nanit to relax and experience the latest from the brand.
At Gurney's Montauk Resort, Nanit transformed the deck into the Nap Deck to recharge and experience Nanit's latest innovation, NextNap, that is launching later this year. Nanit supports my family day-to-day, and this new feature is a game changer, allowing us to predict nap times based on sleep data and AI. It essentially calculates your baby's wake windows so you know when your baby (and you) need rest. "Parents deserve tools that lighten the mental load," said Anushka Salinas, CEO of Nanit. "NextNap takes one of the biggest stressors—nap timing—and turns it into something simple and predictable." Side note, there are other exciting new features launching later this year. "NextNap is just the beginning. We're building a future where AI not only predicts naps but helps families make proactive decisions for their child's overall health," Salinas mentioned.
In between experiencing the latest from Nanit, I explored Montauk, Amagansett, and the resort, all places I've never been before. Clearly, this included shopping for myself and my child, eating delicious food (ahem, lobster pasta at The Crow's Nest), and lounging by the water. Naturally, I packed a few easy and coastal-chic looks for my adventures, and I'm sharing the outfits below to inspire your end-of-summer travel vibes. Keep scrolling to see the looks I wore in Montauk along with more notes from the trip and shopping recommendations—Nanit must-haves included.
What I Wore in Montauk
For a day of hanging on the Nanit Nap Deck and dinner in Montauk at The Crow's Nest, I opted for one of my staples—the J.Crew Etienne Oversize Shirt teamed with relaxed white jeans and flip-flops. This is one of my summer uniforms for an easy yet elevated silhouette.
I explored Amagansett in a monochromatic vibe featuring a relaxed white tee tucked into white jeans. Contrasting black accessories and shoes completed the look. Oh, I found the cutest items for my child at Pink Chicken—including adorable flat Mary Janes from Childrenchic.
Dinner at Gurney's consisted of a butter-yellow knit polo from Vince that I've been wearing on repeat.
Here's a window shot at the resort with another summer outfit formula: a white tee, loose jeans, and flip-flops. The fun bucket hat and striped knit around the shoulders tie the look together.
