My Friend Does PR at Nordstrom—9 Chic Items She Told Me to Buy This Month
One of the perks of working as a fashion editor is all the wonderful people you get to meet along the way—many of which I encounter through press trips, previews, brand events, and more. A few years ago on a press trip to Nordstrom HQ in Seattle, I got to meet the ever-stylish, witty, and adventurous Meliz Andiroglu, who does PR for our favorite multi-brand retailer. We quickly became friends, and ever since, I’ve tapped into her when it comes to all things new, stylish, and cool at Nordstrom.
Today, I wanted to share some of the picks she’s loving at the retailer this month, many of which I’ve already swiftly added to my cart. If you’re feeling inspired to shop or are looking for a few fresh pieces to update your summer wardrobe, then take a look at her picks below, and keep scrolling to shop more of our editor-favorite summer pieces at Nordstrom right now.
"With summer travel in full swing, nothing beats the versatility of a strapless bodysuit. It’s easy to pack and can be worn in many ways: paired with high-rise pants, layered with a cardigan, or dressed up with a skirt. It serves as the perfect base, and this one has a great ruched design, offering a more elevated look."
"A modern take on the classic sandal, the straps add dimension, and the soft cream color pairs well with anything in your wardrobe. It's the perfect sandal for summer and can easily be dressed up or down."
"Taking inspiration from Nancy Meyers's and Diane Keaton's iconic looks (e.g., the 'coastal grandma' trend), this button-down is easy to wear from summer through fall. It can be worn with the buttons undone and a simple tube or tank top underneath, paired with bike shorts for running errands, or tucked into some high-waisted pants for an easy dinner look. It is simple and effortless while also being really comfortable and easy to pack."
"Birkenstock Boston Soft Clogs worn barefoot (in the summer!) or paired with crew socks and shorts or cropped pants are an easy way to feel put together throughout the year. Personally, I love a blustery morning walk on the beach in these bad boys with a cozy fisherman sweater and sweats. The classic shape and color of the Bostons make them an easy mainstay in your wardrobe and easy to transition between spring, summer, and fall."
"It's wedding season, and finding something to wear feels more overwhelming after a couple of years without any formal occasions. These silhouettes allow for comfort while still being flattering as you cut a rug on the dance floor."
"This comfortable matching set from Zella offers both performance fabric and function. The fabric is made from 85% recycled polyester and is very smooth to the touch. These leggings feature very convenient side pockets that can fit everything from a phone to keys. It's really nice when [you need to be hands-free for a workout]."Shop the matching Restore Soft Bralette ($25).
"This one might be surprising, but this unitard is incredibly versatile. This can easily be layered with a top underneath and crew socks for a casual but fashionable look. It would be the perfect look to wear to barre, the farmers market, or, like in Father of the Bride, an at-home aerobics class!"
"Matching sets continue to be a popular, easy choice for summer. This one with its light fabric, gingham pattern, and warm color is a perfect vacation look that can be mixed and matched with other pieces really easily. Gingham is one of my favorite patterns, and I love the shape of this set."
