The 3 Fall Sweater Trends You Should Know Before Shopping

Szymon Brzóska/The Style Stalker

Before you shop for anything—a car, a piece of furniture, or a fashion item—it’s important that you do a little research. And while I can’t help you on the auto or décor fronts, if fall clothing or accessories are on your mind, I can confidently say that team Who What Wear has you more than covered.

In the last few weeks, I’ve written about the designer It pieces that are taking over, the best affordable finds for next season, my favorite boot trends for simple style, the top jewelry trend right now, and the pants you should seriously consider if you’re feeling bored of your jeans for the months ahead. So what’s next on the fall fashion front? Sweaters, of course.

This year, the F/W 19 runways gave us three knitwear trends that stood out above the rest by a landslide. So if you’re getting ready to stock up, I highly suggest opting for one of the below. To see what made the cut, see some inspiration, and shop my picks, just keep scrolling.

1. Fair Isle

This year, Fair Isle sweaters aren’t just for the holidays. After being shown in countless runways— including Celine, Altuzarra, and Chanel—the knitwear style is officially trending for F/W 19, and can be worn as soon as the temperatures are low enough through the end of winter.

2. Knits on Knits

Personally, I love a trend that you don’t technically have to shop for, and knit-on-knit layering is it. Of course, that won’t necessarily stop me from picking up one of the below, but if you wanted to save this season, simply layer the sweaters you already own to instantly get the look.

3. Argyle

Ready to get preppy? Well, you better be, because argyle knits are back. Whether it’s in the form of a sweater, a vest, or a cardigan, all your fall outfits will be improved by the addition of this throwback print.
