"Double denim" is one of the few phrases that instantly conjure up the same image in everyone's minds: Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears walking the red carpet in their matching jean suits. Since that pivotal fashion moment of 2001, all-denim looks have become unexpectedly chic and surprisingly innovative. While the look was formerly confined to jeans and a chambray shirt, brands like Maje are giving these outfits a major update. In the Parisian label's newly released denim capsule collection, classic denim pieces get stylish modern touches, like patchwork denim, color-blocking, and unexpected proportions.
To toast the collection's launch, we co-hosted an event with fashion's favorite Chriselle Lim at the Maje boutique in Beverly Hills, where Lim filled us in on how to wear the season's biggest trend. "First of all, there is nothing stronger than a full denim look," she says. "Casual wear is having such a moment right now because people are realizing that denim is not just about jeans—it's an attitude."
