The Best Maternity Brands, According to a Celeb Stylist and Mom
When it comes to your evolving style during a pregnancy, sometimes it makes sense to get some advice from the experts, which is why many celebrities turn to stylists to help out with their outfits for the nine months. Curious about the fashion lessons a stylist might pass along for mothers-to-be, we turned to one to weigh in.
Celebrity stylist Lindsey Dupuis Bledsoe admits that when it came to getting dressed while she was pregnant, “Working as a stylist helped because I know tips and tricks for dressing. I have dressed clients who were trying to conceal their bumps in the past, so I adopted some of the tricks I gave them, especially in the first few months when I wasn’t ready to let everyone in on the good news.” Ahead she is sharing some of her top fashion tips for anyone who is expecting and her favorite places to find maternity clothes.
ASOS
“ASOS is a great way to stay on-trend without hurting your wallet. The brand has an array of pieces from loungewear to overalls to dresses. No matter your maternity style, you can fill your basket with reasonably priced contemporary pieces. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice style because you are pregnant.”
Monrow
“I lived in my Monrow Trench from my first trimester to Emerson’s first birthday. It was the best way to conceal the bump in the beginning and then to feel comfortably hidden postpartum. I swear Monrow has the most comfortable fabrics on earth for mom and baby! They are simply the softest and became my go-to for comfort.”
Fillyboo
“Fillyboo is great prego or not—you can tell the brand doesn’t design its dresses around the bump, it just adjusts the measurements. They are perfectly boho, exactly what you need for that summer bump. Most of its dresses are easy to nurse in as well, so after the baby comes you can still feel comfortable and fashionable without having to purchase nursing-specific pieces.”
Tilden
“Tilden is actually a website, but it’s the perfect resource when you don’t want to shop maternity-specific brands. The site pulls in great pieces from brands like ALC, Vince, Enza Costa, etc., that your bump will fit into. This site is perfect if you are trying to dress for a wedding or date night.”
Gap
“Gap was my go-to for basics and undergarments that breathe. It may sound funny, but I tell all of my pregnant girlfriends that their number one must-have in the third trimester is the ‘breathe bikini.’ It is breathable, seamless, and doesn’t cling to you in the wrong ways. Comfort is such a luxury in the home stretch. GapFit also offers great workout clothes if you are up for a few circles around the block.”
Well, aren’t there just the coolest maternity clothes out there right now?
