Hands down, one of the easiest ways to make your wardrobe feel fresh and on-trend for a new season is by adding an of-the-moment color to your look. Since this is my favorite subject (I am a bona fide nerd when it comes to color theory), I’m always excitedly looking out for what hues dominate the runway shows.

For spring/summer 2024, we’re seeing soft, calming hues punctuated by vibrant and bold bursts of opulent color. The color-averse among us may gravitate to the pristine all-white looks or versatile gray shades. For those wanting to add an exuberant pop, luxurious golds or royal blues may speak to your senses.

Whether you add a touch of color via an accessory or go for a head-to-toe look, these nine colors below—from serene pale blue to powerful black cherry—will have you looking altogether on-trend in 2024.

Call it merlot, black cherry, oxblood, or burgundy—rich dark red appeared on practically every spring runway from designers such as Hermès, Gucci, and Tom Ford to name but a few. Whether you style it head-to-toe or add it to your ensemble via a chic accessory, the sumptuous color oozes wealth and power and we’re unquestionably excited about sporting it now and into spring, then back into fall.

Soothing and serene pale blue hues dominated on the runways—interpreted in various forms from the gauzy sheer dresses at Prada to the elegant knit and silky fabrications at Fendi. It’s an easy way to infuse a pop of joyous color into your wardrobe without being too bold or overbearing. Not to mention it’s one of those rare colors that suits absolutely everyone.

Okay, okay, while white may not exactly be a trend but rather a classic color, it’s worth mentioning here due to its tremendous presence on the spring/summer runways. Designers made white feel fresh by exploring different fabrics—cotton, leather, chiffon, silk, and wool—along with a myriad of silhouettes from floaty sheer maxi dresses to structured overcoats. However you wear it, go for a classic porcelain white shade (rather than cream or ivory) and have fun with mixing fabrics and layering.

Rich chocolate-brown hues have been all over the fashion set lately, and luckily its reign is set to continue well into 2024—making a name for itself as one of the trendy, non-traditional spring/summer colors. For a runway-approved look, go for a head-to-toe ensemble in a mix of different fabrics.

Lilac caught everyone’s attention in the spring collections—spotted on silky satin suiting, sumptuous knits, and delicate sheer fabrics—bringing fresh excitement to the pretty pastel hue. The gentle color pairs well with a number of neutral hues, making it easy to integrate into your 2024 wardrobe.

While we tend to think of gray as a neutral in our wardrobe, it was featured in so many outfits across the spring/summer collections, it’s absolutely a shade worth noting for 2024. From light silky-silver gray hues to corporate charcoal shades, the understated color palette is anything but boring this year with a myriad of chic styles, silhouettes, and fabrics to choose from.

If you’re looking to make a bold statement, deep and saturated cobalt blue is the perfect trendy color to consider. The bold blue hue was spotted on separates including jackets, tops, and skirts that had a striking effect when paired with other neutrals as well as striking head-to-toe looks.

Call it sage, pistachio, celadon, watercress, or, just light green—the pastel shade is revitalized for 2024 in a number of fresh silhouettes. Go for a translucent pistachio dress in a delicate fabric for a very 2024 look.
