Every morning, I dedicate a few minutes to standing in front of the mirror and playing with my hair before jumping to the next step in my routine. This process often involves deciding if I'd like to wear it up, down, or pulled back to give my makeup the spotlight for the day. The accessory I use to accomplish half of these styles, however, has remained the same over the past couple of years: a trusty claw clip I leave secured precariously at the base of my standing makeup mirror for a fuss-free, yet finished, look.

That's not to say I haven't had my share of failed investments that resulted in loose springs, stray strands wrapping themselves way too easily around the teeth, or an entire clip snapping closed without warning. We’ve all been there. Luckily, I've been able to sort through the good and the bad to identify a few elite claw clips that rise above all others. Keep reading for my 19 beauty editor–approved claw clips for every hair type and texture I swear by. Trust methey’re truly the best of the best.
