I Tried On 21 Tops From Reformation, Topshop, and H&M—Here's What Made the Cut
Two weeks ago, I was on a relentless mission to find some of the best summer dresses to add to my arsenal this summer. Twenty-one dresses later and I found 10 gorgeous frocks that I’ve already been wearing on repeat. This week, I’m in pursuit of the perfect summer top, including shirts for work, breezy blouses for the weekend, and chic bodysuits that will take me from day to night in style. I headed straight to some of my favorite retailers—Reformation, Topshop, and H&M (all known for their trendy and affordable selection) to seek out the coolest picks of the season. These 11 below made the cut. From tank tops to pair with my high waisted jeans and pretty blouses to take me from desk to drinks in a pinch, see the stylish new pieces I took home with me. If you’re so inclined, they may go home with you too.
Reformation
I love linen and I love shirring (a big summer trend that's essentially a decorative gathering of fabric by means of elasticized threads in parallel rows). Because of these two elements, I knew I was going to be smitten with this top before I even tried it. It was everything I could hope for—very flattering, pretty, and modern, and the fabric felt really high quality. I will say, it feels a little rough to put on because of the thickness of the top, and it does stick firmly to your torso (so it's not the top to reach for if you're feeling bloated), but it's so unique and stunning that you forget the struggle it took to actually get on.

Well, hello you cute little charmer. This lovely daisy top never fails to put a smile on my face when I put it on. I love the flattering neckline, it's easy to wear with high-waisted jeans, white pants, or a black slip skirt. I'll be wearing it to al fresco happy hours this summer.

Here me roar! My summer date-night top, found. I know it's crazy, but I have been severely delayed in getting in on the animal-print trend. But now that it's practically a neutral, it's about time I got my teeth stuck into it. If you don't like straps that dangle, this one is not for you as I can see that the long shoulder ties could annoy people, but it didn't bother me much. I really wish I could wear a bra with this as I'm pretty flat chested and craved a little more oomph, but it's very rare that you'll find a Ref top you can actually wear a bra with…
Wait a minute… Ref just proved me wrong! Finally they've made a top that you can actually wear a bra with! Well done, Ref. This fun, relaxed-fitting shirt is a major win in my books for its uniqueness and cool factor. I plan on wearing it on weekends (and on vacation) with my high-waisted denim or linen shorts.

Topshop
I've been on the hunt for some new work blouses for summer, and this red dotty number caught my eye. It's playful yet professional, and the silky material makes it feel more expensive. I'm also really fond of the flattering silhouette and trendy puff sleeves.

I'm partial to a good ol' fashioned Victorian-inspired blouse replete with puff-sleeve shoulders, a high neckline, and broderie detailing. This Topshop blouse checks the box for all my Jane Austen–esque desires while still managing to look of the moment. Give it a modern touch by unbuttoning the top and tucking it into a pair of high-waisted jeans. So pretty.
Shop the top:
Sure, I love a staple white tank, but this yellow stripe top has won my heart. The higher racer neckline is flattering, and the warm sunny hue is perfect for the warm-weather season. Layer on your gold pendant necklaces for a cool-girl look. I would advise sizing up as it runs small.

Another pretty blouse to add to my work wardrobe. The delicate, silky, flowy fabric feels way more expensive than it actually is, and the pretty print is fresh and fitting for work, a luncheon, afternoon tea, and everything in between. Also, can you tell by now that I love a good sleeve?!
H&M
How charming is this blouse, friends? The ruffles, the embroidered detailing, the frilly hem. And it clocks in at a very reasonable $30. One word of warning, it is very sheer, so I'd advise wearing a nude bra or tank (or swimsuit!) underneath.

I am still so surprised at the quality of this black knit top. It feels so soft and luxurious, and hugs the body nicely. I know it's simple but it's actually one of my favorite buys out of all the tops as it's super versatile—great for day and night, moreover I feel très chic in it. The fact that it only costs $13 is the icing on the cake.

This wrap linen top feels so easy and effortless for the summer months ahead. I can see myself wearing it with shorts, jeans, skirts—anything goes.
