Suddenly, Fashion People Are Wearing This Fun Trouser Trend Over Party Dresses

It's official: party season is here and you no longer have to dress yourself only in boring denim or plain wool. If you've been waiting for an excuse to get the sparkles out, this is it. No longer are we only able to shop just a smattering of shimmer in the form of a glittering bag or rhinestone-embellished party shoes; sequins have at last made their way onto almost all garments. And they can look chic—just wait. Sparkly blazers, shimmering skirts and glittering accessories have all caught my eye, but this year I'm taking my cues from the fashion set and shopping for sequin trousers.

The ultimate partywear choice, sequin trousers will look amazing with a matching blazer but can also stand up on their own paired with a fresh white tee and simple mary janes for a glitzy party outfit you'll feel comfortable in all night long. Whilst influencers have been quick to adopt the new-season favourite, they're not the only ones getting in on the festive fun. In fact, Google Trends has seen interest in sequin trousers rise by 450% in recent days. If you're ready to turn some heads and you're keen to go all out, consider styling yours with a silky blouse or strapless top. To dress them up even further, grab your chunkiest heels or tallest stilettos and pile on plenty of jewels.

This season, so many brands have caught on to the shimmering allure of sequin trousers. From Oséree to Anthropologie, compelling versions are available across our favourite brands. However, pieces like this tend to be easy to thrift, too (as with any "statement" garment that tends to get minimal wear), so you might want to consider taking the sustainable approach by seeking out a secondhand pair.

However, if you're itching to get into the festive spirit, you can shop my edit of the best sequin trousers to buy now below.
