If You're Wearing These Shorts, I Know You're a Fashion Person

@emilisindlev; @tamumcphersonThere are certain items that have become fashion-person calling cards. Whether it be a petite Jacquemus bag or an oversize blazer, spotting them IRL immediately tells me that the person in question is clued into the key trends of the moment. I've already discussed the shoe trends that fall into this category, and today, I'm focusing your attention on one warm-weather item in particular: Bermuda shorts. While the trend was definitely deemed "out there" when it first landed on radars several seasons ago, I would definitely classify it as an updated wardrobe staple.
Instead of going for super-short shorts, the fashion crowd has fully adopted longer lengths that offer a bit more coverage. The knee-grazing silhouette has reached far and wide to include everything from tailored versions to carefree, vacation-ready shorts and even Bermuda-length sweatshorts. Here, see how the shorts have become the new default and shop all of the longer-length pairs I have in my cart right now.

@sofiamcoelhoThe belted waist makes these so elevated.

@danie.sierraIf you're a fan of Agolde's jeans, it's time to try the brand's equally popular denim shorts.
For those feeling experimental, this tighter, knee-grazing silhouette feels very forward.

@greceghanemNo one does faux leather quite like Nanushka.
Extra points if your Bermuda shorts are leather-like.
Style these with kitten heels and a pretty blouse.
