If you ask anyone about the best time of day to take a selfie, they’re bound to give you a two-word answer: golden hour. It’s the one hour of the day when we can hold our phones directly in front of our faces, fill our camera rolls with photos of ourselves, and see an impressive glow that seemingly didn’t exist minutes before. As much as I live for a golden-hour photo shoot, I’ve been using highlighter to achieve this glow at all times of the day. I’ve tested a slew of highlighters, but none of them have even come close to SHEGLAM’s Chroma-Glow Bloom Liquid Highlighter ($7). This product brings the kind of illumination to your face that can be seen from other planets. (I know that sounds dramatic, but the brightness is truly unmatched.) I still can’t wrap my head around how a highlighter this beautiful exists for only $7, but I figured I’d do a deep dive for you below. Keep scrolling to understand the hype and take your summer glow to new levels.

You may be familiar with SHEGLAM for its viral liquid blushes and highlighters that trended for months on TikTok. I like to think of the Chroma-Glow Liquid Highlighter as Glow Bloom’s more pearlescent older sister. The duo-chrome finish gives a stunning ombré effect that would otherwise take hours to perfect with multiple products. Its doe-foot applicator makes for easy application in one swipe on the eyelids, cheeks, and anywhere else you feel that a glow is necessary. If the idea of a shimmery highlighter scares you, don’t worry. You can apply it in small dots and build up to whatever amount is most natural to your makeup routine. This new highlighter comes in three shades: Flying Comet (light-green shimmer to silver purple), Stardust (light-green shimmer to rose pink), and Solar Flare (golden shimmer to orange). While I’ll be wearing all three shades this summer, Solar Flare is calling my name right now. But it’s hard not to add every shade (and a few backup bottles) to my makeup drawer immediately.

Most highlighters are applied to the high points of your face, which include the cheekbones, brow bones, and bridge and tip of the nose. But I’ve seen people take it a step further and apply highlighter to their Cupid’s bow, the inner corners of their eyes, and even their chin and forehead. On an arm swatch, you can see all of the stunning glitter and pearlescent components, which make for a beautiful, shimmery eye shadow, too. Because it’s a liquid highlighter, the blending possibilities are endless. Use a sponge, brush, or your fingers to blend the product into your skin. Ultimately, this highlighter is a multiuse product that I’ll be applying all over my body this summer to get the glow that has everybody asking, "What highlighter is that?”

I’ve lost count of all of the beauty products I’ve tested over the years, but I can never forget the standout products that immediately made me nod my head in satisfaction or garnered tons of compliments. In the company of high-end and highly rated makeup, SHEGLAM’s Chroma-Glow Bloom Highlighter stacks up to the competition and holds the title of a standout product. It’s luminous, multiuse, easy to blend, and only $7. If there’s one thing we WWW editors love, it’s an affordable makeup option that’s worthy of a permanent spot in our beauty bags, and this is it. Trust me—whether you’re in a sea of people at a festival or roaming around the busy streets of a major city this summer, your glow will be spotted from miles away.
