If You Suffer From Weak Nails That Break Easily, You Need to Try This Product
There's nothing I love more than going to get my nails done. There's something so nice about taking time out of my day to go and do something that I know is going to make me feel good, and I love the process of choosing what nail design to go for. However, recently I've had to cancel my bi-weekly appointments as my nails have gotten so weak. They are chipping, peeling and splitting all the time which means I can never grow them past a certain length and it's been a little frustrating to say the least.
Now, I know that there are lots of nail treatments out there for this kind of thing and I have given my fair share a go, but a lot of them look like clear polishes which means you can still see my damaged nails underneath. As someone who is on camera a lot for work, this was making me really self-conscious and I was desperate to find a nail strengthener that actually made my nails look good. Enter, the OPI Nail Envy Strengthener.
Yep, OPI have designed a nail strengthener that comes in a range of different colours so that you can give yourself a normal manicure while still protecting your nails. I managed to get my hands on some of the shades and I've been testing the polish for around a week now. It's safe to say that I have been pretty impressed with the results, so keep on scrolling to find out more...
OPI Nail Envy Review
The Formula
Let me start by talking about the formula. The Nail Envy polishes feature the brand's Tri-Flex Technology™, which not only strengthens but also works to protect against chipping, peeling and splitting. It is described on the website as a "liquid shield" that helps to make your nails look (and feel) healthy again.
In order to get the best results, the brand recommends applying two coats to bare nails and then applying an additional coat every day for seven days before removing. I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't keep up with the daily application, but I found that just applying the initial two coats worked well for me.
The Shades
Now, onto the shades. There are eight different colours to choose from, including a chic navy blue, a vibrant red and even a nude. In fact, one of OPI's most famous shades, Bubble Bath, comes in a Nail Envy formula.
If you aren't a fan of colours, not to fear, as you can also get a completely sheer version for those of you who want something really subtle.
The Verdict

One Day After Using The OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener
Three Days After Using The OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener
As you can see from above, two coats of this nail polish is more than enough to get a salon-worthy finish. I found it so easy to apply and it lasted surprisingly well for someone who usually has to reapply her nail polish every other day. Of course there were a few chips along the way, but nothing a little top up couldn't fix.
In terms of how my nails felt when wearing the polish, I definitely noticed that they were a lot stronger. After cleaning my flat, opening packages and doing multiple rounds of washing up, there were no signs of splitting or peeling which I was really happy about.
If I had to find any downsides, one would have to be how hard this polish is to remove. Perhaps it's a sign of just how strong and strengthening it is, but it took me quite a while to fully get rid of the colour. Another thing I didn't love was the fact that the brand suggested applying a new coat every single day. It seemed like quite a faff and as someone who is always running around, I simply didn't have time to do this. That being said, I didn't feel like I had to reapply the polish in order to reap the benefits.
All in all, I would recommend this product to anyone who is having a break from acrylics or gels who wants to care for their nails, while also keeping them looking as good as possible. Sure, it's a little more expensive than your average nail polish, but I know that it will save me a lot of money in the long run and that my nails will be happier for it.
Pros: Comes in a range of shades, makes nails feel stronger and protects from chipping and peeling
Cons: A little more expensive and hard to remove
