From Fiber Gummies to Blurring Blushes—WWW Beauty Editors Told Me the Best Products They Tried in April
Fifteen truly impressive launches.
We may only be closing out April, but our beauty-editor brains have been clinging onto summer for weeks. I likely don't need to tell you how brutally dreary this winter has been. Spring has faked us out like three times now, and now that higher temps are finally here to stay, glowy skin, shiny hair, and dewy makeup products are taking the main stage. It only makes sense that the buzzy launches we gravitated toward this month are the epitome of warmth, from a scented body oil that makes your limbs shimmer to a self-tanning milk that blends like a dream to a designer perfume that smells like an Amalfi Coast holiday.
My fellow beauty editors and I are constantly sorting through new arrivals to determine what formulas are actually worth your hard-earned dollar, so I asked everyone on the team to share three (no more, no less) they now consider staples. You can imagine the dizzying number of products on our desks, so when we add a new item to our own already-crowded routines, you better believe it's a smash hit. Below, I present our 15 April winners.
Alyssa Brascia, Associate Beauty Editor
Bulgari Eau Parfumée Thé Impérial Eau de Toilette
"From the very first whiff, I've been absolutely enamored with the latest and greatest spring scent from Bulgari. It opens with a rush of sparkling lemon—so much so that it smells acutely clean—before mellowing into the prettiest wash of black tea and citrus. Perhaps the best part is that it has impressive staying power for an eau de toilette. I can still smell its heavenly scent on my skin five hours after applying it. In short, it's my spring fixation."
MAC Glow Play Cushiony Blush
"If this isn't the prettiest blush I've tried in forever. MAC has been on an absolute roll lately, and I cannot get over the gorgeous new Glow Play formula, specifically in this rosy lilac called Totally Synced. It's a near-phantom kiss of color with how light the formula is, both in pigmentation and texture (great for no-makeup makeup), yet it's totally buildable if you want to up the ante. For the best results, pair it with a rosy-nude lip liner and MAC's Lipglass Air in Snobbish. Thank me later."
YSL Beauty Kiss Shaper Sculpting Lip Liner
"I collect lip liners like no other, but recently, I've been shirking my old pencils for these stunning new babies from YSL Beauty. After getting my makeup done for my birthday with YSL Beauty national makeup artist J. Brandon Correa, who put me on to these gorgeous liners, I haven't been able to part with them for a day. Each hue is long-lasting and quite transfer-proof, with whispers of color still available after a night out or my lunch break at work. They're impressive and absolutely gorgeous, and I need every color."
Erin Jahns, Beauty Director
Sakara Fiber Bite
"I ride hard for literally everything Sakara does. I've utilized the brand's organic meal–delivery program on and off for years, and I've tested every single snack and supplement to date. (The Metabolism Bars and the Metabolism Powder remain faves even years post-launch.) I'm extremely picky about the supplements I take, but Sakara always gets it right where quality and efficacy are concerned. I'm usually pretty good about getting enough daily fiber, but these strawberry lemonade–flavored gummies are a delicious addition to my routine, and unlike so many fiber supplements, they don't irritate my system. They're fortified with six grams of clinically studied GOFOS prebiotic fiber and are plant-based, sugar-free, and made with organic color and flavor."
Phlur Beach Skin Shimmering Body Oil
"It's not even May, so naturally, I'm already curating my summer beauty regimen. My get-ready routine will never be complete without a shimmering body oil, and while I've had some lovable favorites in the past, Phlur's just-launched formula takes the cake. The scent is dreamy and beachy (obviously) and has the perfect ratio of coconut, citrus, and sandalwood. It delivers a sunlit shimmer that's noticeable but not sparkly—an important differentiation, IMO!"
Cyklar Self-Tanning Milky Essence
"To know me is to understand that I test a new self-tanning product weekly. Mists, mousses, lotions… I've pretty much tried every formula by every brand at every price range, and I'm picky! I'm extremely fair, so it's oh so easy for a product to seriously fail my high standards. That said, Cyklar is one of my favorite brands in the game right now, so its new Self-Tanning Milky Essence very much piqued my interest. I won't bury the lede here—I am impressed! The ingredients are great, and the formula glides and blends effortlessly into the skin. I'm almost always a mousse girl, but this bottle has officially bumped its way into my starting lineup."
Kaitlyn McLintock, Beauty Editor
Verb Density Peptide Hair Serum
"As a fine-haired person who refuses to deal with extensions, I've tried so many growth-boosting scalp serums, yet I still only vouch for three... Make it four. Verb's Density Peptide Hair Serum promotes thicker, fuller-looking hair with a unique Density Complex, ginseng-root extract, niacinamide, and a bio-peptide. It's also incredibly lightweight, so it doesn't weigh my hair down. I've been using it for a month, and the number of new baby hairs sprouting along my hairline is almost shocking."
D.S. & Durga Cowgirl Grass Eau de Parfum
"I can't stop recommending this perfume to people, whether it's to my friends and family members or to dear Who What Wear readers. It's fresh, floral, breezy, and unique—the perfect compliment-collecting formula. Springy notes of bergamot, pink geranium, and lychee are followed by powdery peony, flowering grass, and jasmine water. Notes of vetiver, amber crystals, and soft musk round it out. It's a divine spring and summer scent."
Maybelline Super Stay Teddy Tint
"I took a sabbatical from lipsticks, tints, and glosses during the peak of winter when I was spending most of my time hibernating inside. However, now that spring has sprung, I'm quickly falling back in love with lip combos. This lip tint has become one of my go-to choices. It has the prettiest blurred matte finish, stays for hours without needing a touch-up, and doesn't dry out my lips."
Sabrina Talbert, Assistant Beauty Editor
Pattern Repair360 Leave-In Foam
"Lately, I've been trying to find new ways to incorporate protein into my haircare routine outside of time-consuming masks. This leave-in foam from Pattern has become my go-to for when I want to prioritize strengthening my hair. I don't use heat, but I appreciate that this formula provides thermal protection while also preventing damage from environmental stressors and UV rays."
Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush
"I'm already a longtime user of Glossier's cream Cloud Paint, so getting my hands on the powder formula was a no-brainer. It's rich in pigment but also easy to control and build. My preferred shade is Gale (which is currently out of stock, sadly) because it's the closest match to the cream Dusk, my original favorite."
Beauty of Joseon Dayscreen 2-in-1 SPF 30 Moisturizer
"I know the Day Dew Sunscreen tends to take the cake when it comes to this brand, but I have a feeling this latest release will be everywhere in no time. The formula works well with my sensitive combination skin, leaving a soft finish that isn't greasy or oily. It also doesn't break me out, which is a huge win for me when compared to some other brands I've tried."
Jamie Schneider, Senior Beauty Editor
OleHenriksen Pout Preserve Chillers Peptide Lip Treatment
"From the makers of the viral Pout Preserve Lip Treatment, I present to you Pout Preserve Chillers, the brand's limited-edition iteration that's bound to sell out by May 15. It's the same peptide-, mango butter–, and cloudberry oil–infused formula you know and love—just with an immediate cooling sensation for a subtle plump and refreshing moment of pause. Plus, it comes in new, tropical-inspired flavors perfect for summer.
"I've been wearing Grenada Guava (a sheer coral) nonstop since the set crossed my desk. Let it be known that guava girl summer is so back. Again, this is a limited-edition drop, so I wouldn't wait to add these exclusive shades to your arsenal. At the time of this article, Capri Coco Lime (a sheer shade with fresh coconut-lime flavor) is already sold out at Sephora!"
Anastasia Beverly Hills ArchiBrow Pencil
"Twist my arm, and I'd tell you Anastasia Beverly Hills' Ultra-Slim Eyebrow Pencil is the best brow-grooming product in the biz. I didn't think another brow pencil could steal my heart… until the brand launched an even thinner version. It's literally impossible to mess up with this blade-tipped pencil, and a little goes a long way. Just three to four strokes is all I need to amplify my sparse, gappy brows, something I never thought I'd say! Also, the custom brush makes them appear effortlessly fluffy. It's technically a late-March launch, but it's one I fully can't shut up about!"
Nécessaire The Detox Shampoo
"I'll typically use a clarifying shampoo once every other week to clear product buildup, but as soon as warmer weather (and increased sweat and oil) rolls around, I slot it in way more frequently. Thankfully, Nécessaire recently launched the detox shampoo of my dreams, powered by apple cider vinegar and pine oil to dissolve flakes and buildup without stripping the scalp. Bonus points for the fresh, earthy scent that makes my bathroom feel like a luxury spa. If you're a fan of the Nécessaire Hinoki and Eucalyptus bodywashes, trust me—you'll fall hard for this."
