There once was a time (not too long ago, in fact) when everyone wore white sneakers from May to September. While we're still all about a pair of classic crisp white kicks, things have gotten a lot more interesting in the sneaker department since the craze came to be. And there's no time like the summer to give your sneaker collection a bit of a spruce, via the latest trends that everyone will be pairing with their shorts, dresses, and swimsuits for the next several months. For 2017, there are actually quite a few trends to choose from on the horizon, including a fun color that's currently everywhere in fashion, a specific Adidas style that all the fashion girls are wearing, and a pretty fabric that's quickly become one of the year's biggest trends.

To narrow the options down to these eight trends that are most worth investing in, we looked to what the coolest retailers are stocking, what street style stars and celebs are wearing, what our Instagram feeds are filled with, what's been on the runways, and what sneaker-geared sites are buzzing about. It's safe to say that the hardest thing about choosing your new pair of summer sneakers will be narrowing it down to just one style.

Keep scrolling to shop our picks for the eight sneaker trends to look out for this summer.

PINK

Given what a big deal pink is in the fashion world right now, it's a given that the trend would trickle down to the feet, too. Most brands are endorsing a pretty, mid-spectrum pink hue for their rose-colored kicks.

KNIT

The beauty of the knit sneaker trend that athletic brands in particular are endorsing is that your feel will actually be able to breathe when the weather inevitably warms up. Both lace-up and sock-style knit sneakers are current trending.

Our Knit Sneaker Picks:

SATIN

Satin is one of spring and summer's biggest trends this year, including where footwear is concerned. If you prefer sneakers that are a bit fancier, this trend is for you.

Our Satin Sneaker Picks:

EMBROIDERED

Embroidered sneakers are a carryover from last summer, but the trend is bigger than ever. What better way to usher in the season than with a pair of sweet embroidered trainers?

Our Embroidered Picks:

BALLET INSPIRED

The ballerina trend is still going strong, and brands are coming up with inventive ways, both bold and subtle, to translate it to sneakers.

Our Ballet-Inspired Picks:

DESIGNER LOGOS

While certainly not the budget-friendlies option, designer logo sneakers make a major fashion statement and ensure that whatever you're wearing looks model off duty–worthy.

Our Designer Logo Picks:

METALLIC

Sneakers in shades of silver, rose gold, and iridescent are selling out left and right as of late—and it's so mesmerizing that it's easy to see why. Metallic footwear in any form is trending among the fashion crowd, which regularly opts to wear it in place of neutrals.

Our Metallic Picks:

ADIDAS GAZELLE

Adidas Gazelle sneakers have trumped Superstars and Stan Smiths as of late and become new It Adidas sneakers. Fashion insiders couldn't resist them during the most recent fashion month.
