6 Street Style Trends That Will Dominate This Winter
In fashion's long history, the street style phenomenon might only be a recent one (in its current manifestation anyway), yet it has been pivotal for the formation of trends and subcultures and significant in the rise of many up-and-coming brands. As fashion editors, we find it quite hard to imagine a world without this invaluable source of inspiration. Well, after a not-so-brief hiatus from the normal fashion week scheduling, the spring/summer 2022 shows saw showgoers back with a vengeance, stepping out in all manner of enviable outfits.
As always, we have been keeping our eyes peeled to glean inspiration from said outfits, and as you can expect, we were not short of options. For us, this season was a continued celebration of elevated basics—pieces and pairings that are deceptively simple yet still manage to pack a punch. We're thinking about unexpected colour combos, minimalist suiting, oversized bombers and elegantly fringed separates. While we use the word "trends," we would say that almost all of the trends below will not feel out of date in five years' time. It's all about classical design and clever styling to keep it fresh. Scroll down to see and shop our favourite winter street style trends.
1. Suits
Whether it's classic black or minimalist beige, suits were one of the most notable trends on the streets this season. Make like this showgoer and add a white tee to a cropped blazer and slouchy trousers.

2. Baggy Jeans
Hark back to the noughties with this season's XXL denim trend. As scary as it may seem, we find it's all about balancing out proportions, as demonstrated by this street styler.

3. Bomber Jackets
Bomber jackets are set to make a comeback in 2022, so get ahead of the crowd with an oversized style from the likes of COS.

4. Fringing
Whether it's a midi skirt or plaid jacket, channel Wild West styling this winter with a hint of fringing. Our favourite piece has to be Ralph Lauren's stunning fringe-trim wrap skirt.

5. High-Rise Boots
An oldie but a goodie, track-sole boots have definitely earned their place in the cold-weather fashion hall of fame. Sturdy, chic and long-lasting, they tick all the boxes.

6. Saturated Colours
There was something very joyful about all the colour on show at fashion week this season. We particularly enjoyed how editors clashed bright shades such as green and lilac.
