All Fashionable Girls Agree This Shoe Brand Is Still Our #1

What do Meghan Markle, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna, a host of the globe’s leading influencers and every fashion girl under the sun all have in common? Some may literally have the world at their feet, but all of them are as keen on wearing the same shoes from the same designer as the next.

How so? Well, despite those celebrities and bloggers having endless options of what to wear—with designers willing to give, loan, and in some cases even pay them to wear pieces—and likely generous shopping budgets on top of that, these women share a proclivity for one shoe brand in particular. And if you haven’t guessed yet, the name in question is none other than the iconic Manolo Blahnik.

There are countless popular shoe designers and brands out there, and we cover them all the time. But this case is especially interesting because it’s not often that you have royals, mega-bloggers, models, world-renowned performers and more all wearing the same brand regularly (and on repeat) for at least a few decades in a row. In other words, the Manolo Blahnik wearer doesn’t fit in one style type, demographic, or box, but a deeper dive into some of the choices within the brand does help to paint a bigger picture of why it’s so popular across the board.

From classic pumps that are fit for a princess to on-trend PVC sandals that rival the trendiest of versions, it’s the comprehensive umbrella of styles (all of which are perfected to a T and made to the highest quality) that make it the It girl’s choice time and again. To get a better idea of what I mean, simply continue on.

Back in 2014, Rihanna stuck strictly to the iconic two-strap Chaos sandals but has since branched out to other styles such as the PVC Scolto (also a frequent choice of Kim Kardashian West) and even collaborated with the brand on her own collection.

Ever since Aimee Song posted about receiving these as a gift from her boyfriend, we’ve spotted her wearing them countless times, proving they’re not just pretty to look at, but they’re also surprisingly versatile.

We’ll let the fact that the designer of a world-renowned label (and original fashion girl) considers the BB style as her go-to speak for itself.

The street style star turned designer (whom we just happened to recently feature in our Spring Issue) is a regular wearer of the brand, and true to her style, she tends to opt for classic pieces that still make a statement—a tactic that many other Italian girls also make. As seen above, her choice of an embellished slingback is right for today’s glitzy shoe penchant but will likely also never go out of style.

The Estro, one of the brand’s newer styles, has already gained the approval of Kim Kardashian West, her pal Chrissy Teigen along with Miranda Kerr. They’re perfect for wearing with a dress or jeans (and lengthening your legs in the meantime) or under trousers, as seen on Rosie.

As one of the more editorially inclined content creators in the Instagram fashion set, Evangelie, also known by her handle @styleheroine, unsurprisingly opts for one of the brand’s most trend-forward PVC styles.

Much like VB, Meghan Markle is an avid proponent of the classic BB. Unlike Beckham, however, Markle has strictly opted for neutral shades thus far, likely due to the nature of her duties. Navy, nude and the above-pictured black are currently in her rotation.

As another member of the "million followers and up" club, Caroline Daur too could have her pick of all the shoes in the world, but (much like myself) she seems to favour the Fibiona mules, and can you blame her?

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
