The advent of July is a carte blanche for baring a tanned sliver of tummy in a crop top. Of course, it’s okay for the Hadids and Jenners of this world, but for the rest of us who haven’t been crunching our stomachs since the summer equinox, this is not welcome news.
Or is it? From my travels on Instagram, I’ve noticed one crop top that has been dominating the feeds of the fashionable—and it doesn’t look remotely like something you used to wear with a choker and velour track pants (thank heavens) but a partner to a wide range of grown-up options, from tailored trousers to midi skirts.
