It may be considered an underrated accessory, but a chic pair of frames is well worth the investment. Whether you actually require them to improve your sight (or you just want to make a fashion statement), sporting ‘70s inspired aviators or playful cat-eye frames allows you to express your style. From wire-rim styles to classic specs, eyewear has the power to elevate your entire look.

Looking ahead of the season, we reached out to Stewart Walton, Head Buyer for OPSM, whose job is to ensure Australians can get their hands on the latest sunglasses and optical trends. No two days are the same for Walton, who travels frequently to Milan and Paris to view new collections and key fashion moments which he forecasts for the Australian market. “I love analysing trends, predicting what customers will love and how we can provide them with a positive and unexpected experience.”

So what should we be keeping our eyes on? Walton shares: “As an elegant nod to the ‘90s and early 2000s, micro frames are officially back (and staying). Ranging from round to fast-forward shapes, this season’s eyewear provided the ultimate statement accessory for an edgy look.”

Walton also advises “Metal framing with graphic mod-future looks dominated F/W 18 runways, so expect lightweight metal eye-amour with kicks of colour.”
