Prediction: These Are the Street Style Trends That Will Rule NYFW

New York Fashion Week is about to begin. It marks the beginning of the A/W 16-17 collection circuit—four cities, four weeks, and so many street style outfits waiting to be snapped and Pinned. The world’s most fashionable will descend upon NYC first to parade their finest wares (and maybe fit in some time to see the new-season collections), followed by London, Milan and then the final stop—Paris.

It’s undoubtedly one of the best times of the year to work in the fashion industry. The February shows set the tone for the year ahead, and help dictate what we’ll wear. Luxe and contemporary designers set the tone, the street stylers show us how we’re going to wear it, and then high street stores catch on and figure out the best trends to bring to store. It’s a fun and exciting cycle, and one we love to watch each year. And we love making predictions, so keep scrolling to see the street style trends we think you’ll see everywhere at #NYFW.

We've seen dresses over pants trickling through the street style rounds for a while, but we have a feeling it'll really amp up in New York. Why? It's still chilly, but everyone's desperate to wear the new-season spring dresses that have just dropped OS. The key to making this look work is going for a longer-line loose fitting dress.

It was only a matter of time until 'thrift-store chic' had another moment, but this time it's more pulled together. From a distance, the layers upon layers look haphazard and 'thrown on'. But upon closer inspection, you can see it's calculated and well-thought through. Mixing similar prints and colours is the way to go—and the more, the better.

Shearling has found its way back into our hearts. We forgot about this outerwear until we spotted it again at Paris Couture Week this year. Be prepared to see a lot more of it, including coloured iterations, and start planning how you'll incorporate the cosy fabric into your A/W wardrobe.
