Rose Hayes is an influencer and a VIP Nordstrom stylist. In fact, she's been with the company for 14 years, so she basically knows the ins and outs of Nordy. On that note, Hayes recently shared a list of staples she thinks will be most popular in 2023. Up next, we thought there could be interest in learning about the best items she thinks are worth checking out at Nordstrom's winter sale

The current sale is quite epic, featuring a smattering of fantastic, seriously discounted pieces. But according to Hayes, there are eight general categories we should shop first because there's an amazing assortment of deals in each.

Keep scrolling to check out a range of chic pieces to buy at the massive Nordstrom sale, complete with testimonials from Hayes.

1. Jeans

"I advise clients to refresh their denim wardrobes and try new styles now on sale. I'm looking to add both wide-leg and new straight-leg styles to my personal rotation. Denim on denim is trending, so grab that denim shirt, too, while you're at it."

2. Intimates, Pajamas, and Activewear

"I like to stock up on lingerie and Spanx. I advise my clients to think of holiday and birthday gifts when they find cute pajamas and robes on sale."

3. Cashmere Sweaters

"Now is the time to stock up on cute and cozy sweaters. … I feel like I hit the lottery when I score a classic cashmere sweater on sale! Luxe cashmere sets with the matching jogger pants are my favorite lounge look this time of year, so be on the lookout for those too."

4. Blazers

"This category sells out so fast, even at full price! So if you spot a good one on sale, I highly recommend going for it before it's gone. Checks and plaid versions are super cute to throw on over a solid sleeveless dress or pair with jeans."

5. Boots

"If you know me, you know I have a boot fetish! This is the category I check out first when shopping the sale."

6. Faux-Leather Anything

"From jackets to vegan-leather dresses to slouchy pants, this trend is here to stay. Get an immediate fashion fix by wearing faux-leather pants and a graphic T-shirt. I swear you'll feel modern and stylish when you wear faux leather."

7. Outerwear

"To make room for spring arrivals, all the winter coats must go. This is where you can save literally hundreds by shopping for coats now. Puffer jackets are super popular, and I'd highly recommend investing in a great wool dress coat to wear with jeans and dresses."

8. Cool Tops

"I love a fun, interesting take on a plain shirt. Look for puff sleeves, wrap styles, and unusual draping and cutouts. I personally love a Western or a menswear-inspired shirt. I wear cotton oversize button-down shirts on the regular either on their own or layered. I'm hoping to snag an oversize cotton or silk shirt in a bright color or a stripe (or both)."
