After a few years in the fashion industry, my humble opinion is that there's never a better time to make an investment in your wardrobe than fall. The pieces you buy for this season will carry you from now through the hardest months of the year, so you better love them. And what item is better to invest in than a good wardrobe staple?

I have a long list of pieces on my wishlist myself and as I narrow it down, I decided to turn to a few of my industry colleagues to get their take on what items they plan to invest in this fall. Their answers made my shopping list just a bit longer and got me very excited for the new season. Below, find the seven items fashion girls approve of buying this fall.

"Blame my Cancer rising, but as soon as the weather dips just enough I’m ready for a blanket/robe coat that feels as cozy as it looks. I just got this one from Anine Bing and I think it’s so elegant. I’ll wear it with straight-leg jeans and Jenni Kayne mules all fall."

"For fall, I am investing in a leather midi skirt. It's all about a midi skirt this season and leather add a cool-girl factor to it. I could wear it with a turtleneck, sweater, and tall leather boots or mules during the colder months. In the spring, I can style it with a bralette and strappy sandals. It's a piece that's equally understated and sexy at the same time. And now, there are so many variations of the leather midi skirt—pleated, A-wrap, or with button details—there are so many ways to style it."

"The EB Denim Varsity Jacket is my investment staple. I wear it at least twice a week, it is so easy to dress up or down, and hangs effortlessly. The quality of the materials and message behind it is very special to me and has to be one of my favorite pieces I've ever made."

"My go-to staple this fall is a pleated skirt. They can be chic and office-friendly with a fitted blazer or more casual with a sweater and loafers. I love that there are variations to choose from like a leather midi or knit mini so you can change up your vibe."

"Long-sleeve knit dresses in midi or maxi lengths are a favorite to invest in each fall. I love a cozy ribbed knit version with extra long sleeves. For nights out, I’ll opt for one with a cutout to show a little skin. They’re a perfect transitional piece, especially now that I have a baby bump to style!"

"This fall, I will definitely be investing in a good layering vest. Either leather, cargo, or a light puffer vest. That way I can layer on top of pretty much anything. And they are so versatile and can be dressed up or down based on what accessories you pair with the whole fit."

Last winter, I fell in love with the leather trench coat. By the time I was sure I wanted it in my closet, it was too cold to justify anything but a puffer. The first time I acquired for my fall wardrobe was a Deadwood leather trench that I can't wait to try on upon its arrival. I already know it's the kind of item I am going to wear over and over making my other coats feel neglected.
