5 Boot Trends That I See Every Single Time I Get on the Tube
In winter, Londoners tend to revert to a tried-and-tested uniform of coats, jeans and boots. But just because we are about to spend the next six months in boots, doesn't mean we have to play it safe. Each month on Who What Wear UK, we document what Londoners are wearing, catching them as they get off the tube or as they head into work, and it's an amazing insight into the trends that are actually translating into people's wardrobes. October's street style images all had one thing in common—everyone was wearing a pair of where-did-you-get-those boots. There are five styles of boots in particular that are quickly becoming part of the London uniform—I see them every time I get on the tube or go to a pub on a Sunday.
It's a tale of two trends in London right now. On one end people are leaning on classics, investing in black leather ankle boots, lace-up ankle boots and timeless knee-high leather boots that will go with pretty much every winter outfit you could think of. But then others are diving right into more daring boot trends, such as chunky track sole hiking boots and look-at-me animal prints. Keep scrolling to see and shop the boot trends that are taking over London this month.
1. Chunky Sole Boots
I keep seeing so many chunky boots in London this autumn, whether that's weighty hiking boots or track sole stomping boots.
2. Black Leather Ankle Boots
Sometimes you just can't beat a classic black leather ankle boot—Western silhouettes like the pair above are proving particular popular with the London fashion crowd.
3. Knee Highs
Londoners tend to live in midi length skirts and dresses, and knee-high boots are the easiest things to pair with them in winter.
4. Lace-Up Boots
If hiking boots are too chunky for you, these lace-up leather ankle boots are the perfect option.
5. Animal-Print Boots:
Londoners love to experiment and never shy away from a bold trend, so zebra and snake effect boots are an amazing way to add personality to a 'sensible' winter purchase.
