These Celebs Are Straight-Up Wearing Lingerie on the Red Carpet in 2023

If it seems like anything goes when it comes to red carpet style, you're not wrong. There seems to be a different set of rules for what's acceptable for someone to wear at a celeb event versus out in public. To be clear, I'm not complaining, as it allows stars to take daring risks with their fashion choices—something we definitely appreciate here at Who What Wear.

We're only one month into 2023, but celebrities are already declaring the underwear-as-outerwear trend to be all-important this year. Liza Koshy, for instance, wore a thong-exposing Dior dress at the Golden Globes, while Janelle Monáe opted for a see-through Vera Wang gown at the Critics Choice Awards. Meanwhile, The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki opted for a more modest look with a bra peeking out of her sheer Dior blouse at the brand's Haute Couture S/S 23 show in Paris. Scroll down to see all the celeb looks, and shop our favorite lingerie pieces for less than $75.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
