When it comes to upcoming fall trends, sophisticated leather will be among the most popular on the fashion scene. All-leather looks were a breakaway trend on the F/W 19 runways, seen everywhere from Bottega Veneta and Salvatore Ferragamo to Loewe and Ganni. While I expect to see plenty of head-to-toe leather looks emerge on the street style scene during fashion month, I’m also advocating investing in leather separates for more wearable looks IRL.
There’s certainly one thing that’s indisputable about the trend: It looks luxe, so it's a surefire way to pull off an expensive-looking outfit, even if you opt for affordable pieces. Ahead, I’m highlighting some of the best leather clothing for women to add to their shopping carts for the season ahead, ranging from break-the-bank items to mid-range investment pieces to affordable finds. Go on to shop my edit to tap into one of the most important trends for fall.
A Polished Leather Jacket
While motorcycle jackets will always be a fashion staple, leather jackets are getting a polished and streamlined makeover this fall with sleek, minimal styles that lend a sense of sophistication.
Trouser-Like Leather Pants
Leather pants have taken on many forms in the past, with everything from culottes to legging versions on the street style scene. This fall, trouser silhouettes will take over as the most popular style to wear.
A Handheld Leather Bag
Plenty of new bag trends are on the horizon for the second half of 2019, but leather clutches will continue to reign among the fashion set—aided in large part by the ever-popular Bottega Veneta pouch bag.
A Tailored Leather Trench
A leather trench is poised to be the outerwear staple in every fashion insider's closet this fall, worn with everything from midi dresses to trousers to denim Bermuda shorts.
Sleek Knee-High Boots
Knee-high boots are one of this season's key trends because of how versatile they are. They can easily be worn with a minidress but also styled underneath trousers for a more tailored look.
