So far, 2023 has been defined by one risky fashion trend: the no-pants look. While celebrities have embraced the daring trend more than anyone else, it's gaining steam. Originating on the runways of Bottega Veneta, Victoria Beckham, Khaite, and Coperni, this trend is defined by wearing sheer tights and briefs with no actual pants in sight. Naturally, celebs have taken the shock value up a notch, pushing the no-pants trend by wearing barely-there hot pants.

Celebrities have begun embracing teeny-tiny shorts seemingly overnight, and we're predicting they'll be the next big—err, small—daring trend. Recently, Hailey Bieber wore a leather pair from Saint Laurent, which she styled with sheer tights and a maxi coat. And, of course, we took note of the chic way she wore the bare-legs look. Then, we spotted Sophie Turner wearing knit hot pants with a cropped blazer and low slingbacks when heading to dinner in L.A. It was then that we started officially keeping an eye out for the bubbling trend. Fashion people are all over the look, too, wearing iterations of Miu Miu's raw-edge tweed shorts, which tells us it's definitely becoming a thing.

Ahead, see how we're charting the hot pants trend from celebrities to social media. And shop our picks for the one-inch hemline if you dare.

On Hailey Bieber: Saint Laurent coat, bodysuit, shorts, and sunglasses; Calzedonia tights

Not to sound dramatic, but when Hailey Bieber wears something, we jot it down for future reference. Her style has become synonymous with low-key cool. When we spotted her in these hot pants, we immediately made a mental note about it becoming a potential new trend. And well, we were right. As you're about to see, Bieber is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to celebrities who love this rising bare-legs trend.

On Sophie Turner: Nana Jacqueline Natasha Coat ($550); Aya Muse shorts; Louis Vuitton heels

Sophie Turner's take on hot pants is surprisingly chic. She managed to take the risqué short-shorts and make them look ultra-polished. By adding a structured cropped blazer, tights, and patent slingbacks she balances out the shorts' skimpiness with a sophisticated feel.

On Elsa Hosk: Jacquemus top and shorts

While on vacation, Elsa Hosk donned a linen pair of micro shorts from Jacquemus with a coordinating bra top and bright bag, proving the trend is as perfect for a summer wardrobe as it is for a going-out one.

Dua Lipa's take on hot pants involves a matching knitted set that's as fun as it is lounge-worthy. This photo alone made me want to toss out all my sweatpants and start fresh with something way cooler like this.

As I mentioned, there's something about hot pants that makes them seem tailor-made for beach vacations, and this bright look proves my point.

Leave it to Miu Miu fans to have the coolest take on hot pants yet. Above, Camille wore a look from the brand's fall 2022 collection, which included tweed shorts, moto boots, and a double-belt situation. This take isn't for the faint of heart, but that's what makes it so good.

Leather hot pants just hit differently. I love the way an oversize button-down shirt balances out the tiny shorts. I'll be taking note on this styling idea for future outfits.

Sometimes simple is the way to go. Here, a ribbed tank and kitten heels complete a look that's both pared down and daring.

Fashion people are wearing short shorts low down on their hips with exposed briefs peeking out from the waistband. Bold? Yes. Brilliant? Absolutely.

Consider trying a pair of ribbed hot pants instead of bike shorts or leggings when running errands on a warm day.

There's something about combining an oversize motorcycle jacket with tiny shorts that just feels right. Instead of wearing heels, try toning down your shorts with a pair of tough boots.

Y2K fans across the internet are embracing one-inch inseams. Naturally, Devon Lee Carlson's take on the trend is one of the coolest.
