5 Expensive-Looking Buys H&M Has Really Nailed This Week
When it comes to shopping edits, I always feel like less is more (which is why I stick to nine items in my weekly new-in update). It can be all too easy to feel overwhelmed by the hundreds of items on offer online, whether it's designer, high-street or even vintage retailers. So this week, I decided to give you a top-line summary of the five—yes, just five—items H&M has really nailed this week. I tried to focus on pieces that have a certain premium finish or silhouette, or spring staples that you'll wear on repeat this season.
At the top of my wish list is H&M's cut-out top, which, for me, feels like a great entry point to the trend. It's exactly the sort of top I'd want to wear for a dinner with side-leg black trousers and gold hoops. I also have to give a shout-out to the brand's fisherman sandals, a style I've been looking for since last summer. Their wide straps and chunky soles make them look 10 times their high-street price point. I've also included a very dreamy denim jacket, a perfectly slouchy pair of trousers and a smart layering trench. All perfect for spring and beyond. Scroll down to see what I found.
1. The Cut-Out Top
There were so many cut-out pieces on the S/S 22 runways, and it's not a trend I've seen much on the high street until now. I'm not exactly a "naked dressing" sorta person, but I would happily wear this H&M number with a pair of wide-leg, black trousers.
2. The Fisherman Sandals
Fisherman sandals were hailed a favourite of the fashion crowd last summer, but this year, the style is expanding its oeuvre and entering the mainstream. We have a feeling that this H&M pair will be a sellout, with its expensive-looking thick straps and minimalist silhouette.
3. The Slouchy Trousers
Love it or hate it, the low-slung waistline is having a moment this season, and these tailored trousers feel like a good entry point. The jersey might seem like a curveball, but I own a pair of tailored, thick jersey trousers, and it can create an unexpectedly premium finish thanks to the sculptural qualities of the fabric.
4. The Denim Shacket
Spring is here, which means it's time to dig out those light jackets. My go-tos? Suede and denim shackets. H&M's denim jacket will do the job nicely with its boxy fit and waist-cinching belt—it will look so good with a pair of straight-leg jeans and cowboy boots.
5. The Layered Trench
We love a good layering hack here at Who What Wear, and this H&M trench coat manages to incorporate a gilet layer in the chicest way possible. Wear both layers now while the weather is still temperamental. Then, just slip out the gilet when the mercury rises later in the season. Smart.
