The Only High-Street Winter Buys You Need To See This Month
Much more than your average December, there's a definite sense of trepidation in the air as we enter into winter 2020. While it might be tricky to find big things to look forward to, we will always have small pleasures: the comforting warmth of a woolen roll neck or the toasty appeal of fleece-lined slippers. It might be dark and it might be cold, but let us not underestimate the mood-boosting powers of cosy, cold-weather style.
Whether you're looking for a cocooning puffer coat or a pair or sturdy boots, thankfully the high street has delivered on all fronts this season. From Arket's sellout puffers and Mango's western-inspired tassels, to COS's winning coats and Gap's classic cashmere, scroll down to see and shop the best bits from the high street's winter drops.
Mango
Mango is packed-full of elevated staples right now: Think wide leg jeans, fringed jackets and classic shirts. At the top of my wishlist? The below check print jacket.
COS
If you're looking for coats and knitwear with a trend-led twist this season, COS is the place for you. A must-see for expensive-looking high street style.
& Other Stories
As always, & Other Stories excels in the wintertime and this year is no different. Head to Stories for fun prints and perfect tailoring.
Arket
Arket rules the high street when it comes to stripped-back pieces with personality. We recommend the brand's cult puffer coat this season for duvet-day appeal.
Monki
A somewhat lesser-known brand in the high street realm, Monki still yields plenty of winning designs. This season they're all about those throw-on weekend staples: Think striped jumpers, straight leg jeans and puffers.
Gap
Gap is one of those high street institutions that we return to again and again. Aside from the obvious (denim), it's also somewhere we always head to for affordable cashmere and coats.
H&M
According to our data, H&M is having a moment in the spotlight right now thanks to its premium-feel fabrics and on-point edits. The brand dropped its Conscious Collection yesterday and it's not to be missed.
M&S
You can't really go wrong with M&S' classic approach to seasonal style. This winter its edit includes plenty of tailored separates, timeless jackets and comfy flats.
John Lewis & Partners
John Lewis & Partners has one of the widest selections of high street brands in one place, so is great if you're looking for variety this winter, oh and a chance to snoop around the homeware.
Whistles
At the upper end of the market, Whistles knows how to deliver premium pieces that will stand the test of time. Its boot selection is particularly good this season and the Barkley Zip Front Boot is just too damn cool.
French Connection
A British institution with ageless appeal, I'm all over French Connection's Catia wool coat this December, and I can imagine wearing it with everything from jeans to jumpsuits.
Zara
Zara is a firm favourite amongst the fashion crowd, thanks to its reactive collections and affordable trend-setting styles. The brand has really delivered on luxe minimalism this year, and can be seen in its winter knits and accessories.
Dune
From knee-high boots to combats, Dune is our go-to for purse-friendly shoe offerings. At the top of our wishlist is the poplin faux fur-lined hiker boot which will keep us warm in style.
