10 Wearable Street Style Trends Coming Out of Paris Right Now
And so begins the first Fashion Week of 2023, bringing with it plenty of street style inspiration to get our teeth into. Haute Couture Fashion Week kicked off in Paris this week and while the runway looks dazzled us with new and exciting (and often surreal) designs, the street style is just as noteworthy.
This first fashion week of the year provides an early glimpse at the trends that stylish people are starting to commit to for the new year. Though we are still in the midst of the winter season (as the weather keeps rudely reminding us) the style set haven't let that dampen their efforts.
For 2023, we're seeing injections of joy through playful colours and energetic fringing. It's no surprise that denim styles are having a moment considering the trend's omnipresence on the SS23 runways—it was slouchy silhouettes that I noticed were the option du jour across the French capital. It's also important to note there is still a reliance on the classics. Not new, but still worth mentioning, neutral tones cropped up over and over again as an easy yet impactful look to follow. In the accessories world, earrings are the focus with oversized styles the most eye-catching of all. There are plenty more trends to explore so keep scrolling for the complete list.
1. NEUTRAL LAYERING
A trend we're always pleased to see is neutral layering. Though it may not be the most groundbreaking, it's a reminder of the impact of minimalism and classic items. Full tonal looks in an array of neutral hues can make as much of a statement as bold colours. There's an added sense of elevation that comes with rich cream and camel tones that lend themselves to an overall expensive-looking outfit, no matter the price point.

2. LAID-BACK DENIM
Trusty denim remains a talking point amongst stylish people, and for good reason. It's hard to believe the power this fabric holds over us, but the differing details of cut or colour always offer up new style inspiration. As such, this particular trend of laid-back, slouchy denim is one to behold. A comfortable style that can work for all times of day, and almost any occasion, the versatility alone makes this trend a clever one to invest in.

3. STATEMENT EARRINGS
Accessories trends are always intriguing as they often be the most adventurous of all the categories. Oversized statement earrings have been chosen for 2023 as a comeback moment. The bigger the better, this trend has been worn with varied styling from sporty silhouettes, to tailored looks and finally high glam, proving that an oversized earring is always appropriate.

4. TIMELESS TRENCHES
An evergreen item that we are always happy to return to is a classic trench coat. As the grey days threaten rain, the elegant silhouette and functional aspect of this outerwear allows it to be a hard-working addition to any wardrobe. Classic black and beige continue to be elegant starting points, whilst the more daring opt for leather iterations to add a fresh twist.

5. CARGO PANTS
The cargo pants trend burst onto the scene last year with the return of Y2K styles, and it's proving to have true staying power. The multi-pocketed, loose style works off utilitarian design mixed with the wide-leg silhouettes that have become prevalent in recent years. This fashion week, we saw all kinds of cargo pants from denim style, to classic khaki finishes and more refined tailored styles.

6. High Shine Shoes
Knee-high boots are continuing to reign supreme, and the current trend has turned to a glossed-up version. Patent knee-high boots shone through the overcast Paris days, adding another layer of elevation to many outfits.

7. COLOURFUL COATS
In contrast to the dim winter days, the fashion set has dialled up the joy this fashion week. Injections of colour broke through the uniform neutrals that we have come to expect from the fashion capitol with even the most classic dressers playing with infusions of colour. The simplest, and most effective way to add new shades into your wardrobe appears to be the colourful coat. An eye-catching outer layer that will spark joy for years to come.

8. GLOVES ON
One of the dressier trends that has been circling the fashion sphere are opera gloves. Leather or satin versions, often reaching the elbow or beyond, this finishing touch adds a touch of elegance to your favourite LBD or even sleek tailoring. Our top tip is to layer your jewellery on top for extra impact.

9. ANKLE-SKIMMING HEMS
Over the past few seasons, ankle-skimming skirts have been simmering away as if waiting for their time in the spotlight. For Fashion Week, hemlines dropped and seeing maxi skirts on repeat reminded us of their versatility. There's an elegance to this long hemline that lends itself easily to more elevated silhouettes, but also looks just as cool with an oversized puffer coat.

As if ringing in the new year with rejuvenated energy, fringed styles were prominent across the Paris streets. The style, that adds movement and sway to every step, was noted on coat sleeves, dramatic dresses and even brilliant accessories.
