I'm a Nordstrom Stylist in My 20s—Here Are the Trends I Think You Should Buy

We talk about Nordstrom quite a bit here at Who What Wear because, well, frankly, the retailer just seems to have it all. Wardrobe staples, office clothes, party pieces—it’s your guaranteed one-stop shop, especially now that it offers brands like ASOS and & Other Stories. After scrolling through TikTok, we happened to come across Angela Romeo, a stylist at Nordstrom who seems to know her way around the sartorial world. We’re not surprised, as she works at the biggest retailer in fashion, is in her early 20s, and graduated from fashion school, so she’s always keeping tabs on what’s new. She often updates her followers on the latest at Nordstrom and the best trends to shop from the retailer. We decided to take her advice and turn to her for inspiration on what you should look into shopping this season.

Below, Romeo shares six trends that she thinks are worth purchasing this season, along with her product recommendations to shop through.

Loafers

"Nineties throwbacks are all the rage for fall fashion right now, so it should come as no surprise that chunky loafers will be the perfect addition to your sweater vests and baggy jeans this season. I love them because they’re that perfect blend of trendy and nostalgic, easy to dress up or down, and they’re a comfortable alternative to the typical heeled boot for fall.”

Leather Pants

"If you don’t own any leather pants to pair with your sweaters for the cold months ahead, you need to run, not walk, and purchase a pair. You can style them with pretty much anything on top and they are guaranteed to make any outfit instantly cooler. Looser, baggy leather trousers are specifically having a moment right now, which I’ve been loving.”

Knee-High Boots

"Knee-high boots are the new thigh highs. They’re a great way to add some dimension to your outfit and draw attention to your legs. Heeled styles are fun, but I especially love ones with flat, chunky lug soles. I’m all about fusing practicality with fashion, so you can see why I love these.”

Split-Hem Pants

"I know this trend really isn’t too new, but I’m still so obsessed with it. It makes any pants (jeans, leggings, trousers, you name it) so effortlessly cool. And they make your legs look miles long, which is always a plus.”

Oversize Blazers

"Eighties lovers, this one’s for you. I’ve been loving big blazers lately for so many reasons, but mostly because they’re an easy way to dress up a simple outfit in a cool and interesting way. I also love pairing them with relaxed trousers for a whole monochromatic, relaxed suiting moment.”

Button-Down Satin Shirts

"I’ve been loving button-downs in general lately, but something about the satin detail makes this trend all the chicer. I love exploring funky colors and prints with this trend and pairing them with my leather trousers or some great denim for work.”

Yusra Siddiqui is an editor who resides in New Jersey but bounces between the suburbs and NYC. (She's a Jersey girl at heart.) After interning at Who What Wear in 2019, she found her way to the team after graduating from LIM College in 2022 with a fashion media degree. She's also spent time writing and working for publications such as Fashionista, Coveteur, and Nylon, but she always knew that Who What Wear was where she was meant to be. When she's on the job, she's perusing runway shows, analyzing the latest thing fellow Gen Zers are up to on the internet, and sharing what she can about the modest-fashion market. You can also catch her dabbling in entertainment, talking about the costume choices of the latest Netflix series or diving deeper into how the plotline affects the viewers in a myriad of ways. Lastly, she likes to create content for Who What Wear's TikTok. Her personal time is spent doing similar but also different things—deep diving into almost every new TV show (Bridgerton, Gilmore Girls, and Stranger Things are favorites), planning her next local getaway (whenever that may be), and reading the latest Emily Henry or Sally Rooney novel in one sitting.
