I Asked Some Cool French Girls What They're Buying for Fall
If you were to step onto the streets of Paris right now, in the heart of fall, what would you see the chicest women wearing? If you aren’t planning on booking a flight there to walk through the Marais and see for yourself, I have the next best thing for you: a shopping list curated by some of the most stylish French women. I asked some of the women whose style inspires me, personally, to tell me exactly what they’re wearing this fall, including their top shopping picks for the season.
Ahead, they’re sharing the essentials that every real Parisienne owns, as well as the new pieces they’re currently adding to their closets. From the perfect heels to wear with jeans to the oversize jackets for day-to-night sartorial success to knee-high boots that add polish to any outfit, these are the fashion buys they’re making this season. Scroll on to see what they recommend and shop them for yourself to tap into iconic French-girl style.
“The best transitional coat—you are not a real Parisian without a trench in your wardrobe for fall.”
“The perfect chic leather boots to pair with everything—and mostly with a dress to announce the message that we are not anymore in summer but not yet in winter, please!”
“I could wear an oversize jacket with everything, from morning to evening. I love playing with masculine codes to add an effortless chic twist: on a cocktail dress, for example.”
“French girls need an alternative to the straw bag (not really rain-friendly).”
“During fall, my skin lost a bit of that summer glow due to the lack of vitamin D. Some earrings always help me to keep it.”
“This Burberry trench coat is a must in any wardrobe; it’s timeless and elegant. I love to wear it when I travel, paired with a straight-leg jean or stirrup black pants and chic slides.”
“These are a great match to natural-brownish fall shades look. I am really into small-sized bags that could easily fit all my essentials.”
“My crush skirt of the season is definitely this Vince rust silk skirt. I styled it with Gianvito Rossi leopard boots during PFW. It’s super soft and feminine and could be worn with a natural-shade loose knit or a more fitted shirt.”
“I am always looking for an overcoat or a remake of the trench coat simply because it is the perfect transitional outerwear.”
“I like to accentuate my waist with a daring belt. Over a coat or a blazer is even more interesting. I find simplicity with a twist very powerful and visually fascinating.”
“I balance masculine-inspired outfits with feminine jewelry, like a pair of glamorous earrings.”
