We Did a Wardrobe Refresh—This Mini Bag Survived the Purge
It's a versatile style perfect for spring and beyond.

Every fashion person knows that the minute the weather warms, it's time for a wardrobe refresh. My coworkers and I take this very seriously. We text each other from our closets, waist-deep in boots and scarves, asking if the tulle skirt we bought for that one party might come back around one day. You know, the important questions.
It's always fun when we all agree that a piece is a keeper—the kind we'll wear for years to come. Recently, that piece was senior editor Aniyah Morinia's Coach Plaza Bag. This cute, small-but-mighty style truly goes with everything. It's perfect for a night out, easy to toss into your tote on the way to the office, and chic enough for everything in between. Plus, Coach has options under $150. Keep scrolling to see how Aniyah's wearing her Plaza Bag, and learn why she's calling it a must-have.
During a wardrobe refresh, what makes a piece worth keeping long-term?
Aniyah Morinia: Quality, style, and practicality are my three main focuses when deciding whether to keep or ditch an item in my closet. Is it something that will tear or fade after a few more wears? Is this a style that I can see fitting in with my wardrobe, even if my personal style changes? Can this item survive a full day of running around NYC? Luckily, the Plaza Bag checks every box, and it's the poster child for luxe bags that don't break the bank but will stand the test of time.
What made this bag stand out as something you'd hold onto season after season?
Three words: simple yet effective. As a city dweller, I love having a bag that can be easily thrown over my shoulders for a hands-free moment. It makes running errands in NYC not only practical but more chic. This brassy maple shade feels like the perfect chocolate brown that I can wear with all of my looks, no matter the season. It fits my wallet, my earbuds, and several lip glosses, which is all I can ask for.
How are you wearing your bag today, and how do you plan to style it as the seasons change?
I rely heavily on my accessories to add visual interest to my looks. For one look, I opted for an all-cream ensemble to celebrate the start of spring in the city. To keep things fun and a little playful, I went for a striped base that maintained the neutral palette while seamlessly complementing the other elements of my look. The Plaza Bag's chocolate-brown shade really pulled it together and allowed the brown in my shoes and sunglasses to pop. What I love about this look is that it could totally work for the fall as well, with some minor tweaks. The Plaza Bag allows for so much versatility and experimentation within my personal style, so I'm excited to come up with new ways to let it shine, even when I make bolder outfit choices.
My other look focused more on pops of color and prints, which allowed the Plaza bag to really neutralize the look. I chose some lighter spring layers with a red cashmere sweater as my base and a suede jacket as my top layer. I stuck to jeans and leopard-print loafers, which felt visually interesting. Despite wearing these bolder pieces, I don't think it would have felt complete without this bag to highlight the neutrals within the look.
What features make this bag feel timeless rather than trend-driven?
The Plaza Bag is small but mighty. I love that it's more structured and tucks perfectly under your arm when wearing it on your shoulder. It can also be converted into a wristlet or clutch, which is a major bonus point in my book.
