Spotted in Paris—the Surprising Shoe Trend That Looks Chic with Shorts and Knee-Length Skirts
Don’t bother with sandals—this surprising shoe trend works with just about everything.
If you're looking to invest in a new-season shoe that can plug a few wardrobe gaps, I've come across a surprisingly versatile silhouette fresh from the streets of Paris. Chic enough to pair with skirts and just as easy with shorts, it's firmly on my summer styling radar right now.
Courtesy of Jennifer Lopez, who this week stepped out in a divisive pair of vinyl heels, I've been completely won over by this unexpected shoe trend. Whilst flip-flops have dominated celebrity wardrobes this season, JLo instead reached for a pair of vinyl heels, styling them with thigh-grazing shorts for a sleek and coordinated look.
Worn with high-waisted, near skin-toned shorts, the barely-there shoes created a sleek, uninterrupted line that made her legs look miles long, meanwhile, her billowy, boho blouse softened the look with a feminine, romantic finish.
A few days later, I spotted JLo out again in the very same trend, this time styling the clear shoes with the season's favourite knee-length skirt trend. Sticking to the same styling formula, she chose a high-waisted skirt in a rich earthy hue, once again using the transparent heels to elongate her legs.
Working within an elegant palette of pale pink, crisp white and warm earthy tones, JLo highlighted one of the vinyl heel's greatest strengths: because the shoes are virtually colourless, they complement almost any shade.
So, if you're packing shorts and skirts for a trip to Paris—or looking for a shoe that can easily style both—take JLo's lead. Read on to shop my edit of the best vinyl heels below.
