Celebs in Their 50s and 70s Are Styling Jeans With This Flat-Shoe Trend
Would Miranda Priestly wear clogs? Probably not. But Meryl Streep absolutely would—and has!
While out promoting the most highly anticipated fashion film sequel of all time, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Streep was spotted in a bright-green polka-dot jacket, a pair of dark-wash jeans, a large light-blue tote, and a pair of sleek black clogs. The actress is just as chic as the fictional editor in chief she plays, minus the pretentiousness, and as far as we're concerned, clogs are very much in, despite Priestly's imagined disapproval. Streep's impeccable style has sold us on the look entirely.
The shoes look great with a pair of jeans because they're just as casual as denim, and they're easy to throw on when you want to look comfortable. The style also feels a lot more elevated than a pair of sneakers and has a "so wrong it's right" thing going for it. Clogs shouldn't work outside of a garden, but they really do. The concrete jungle suits them well.
Streep isn't the only fan of the look. It's also quietly become a go-to style for chic older celebrities. Jennifer Aniston has been recently spotted wearing jeans with clogs, and honestly, that's enough to convince us that this is a look we absolutely have to wear when we're stuck on how to style our favorite pair of Levi's 501s for the 100th time. Priestly would at least appreciate our ingenuity.
