Maybe It's Time to Swap Your Denim Jacket for This Chic Alt (That Looks Better With Jeans)
It's that funny time of the year when we have to do a bit of an outfit switch-up every time we step outside. Spring means warmer temperatures but only for part of the day. At any moment, a cloud could roll in and showers could come down. It's in that moment you're likely to realize your lack of jacket was not the best move, despite your prior optimism about the weather. (I speak as someone who did this but a week ago in New York.)
I think the reality is that while winter coats can inspire wonder with fabulous textures and exaggerated silhouettes, light jackets can feel more like an obligation than something you really want to wear. And while I love a denim jacket, it's not the most exciting piece in my wardrobe. At times I just opt for no jacket at all because I'm not that inspired, only to really regret it hours later when the night gets significantly cooler.
Maya Hawke, though, is providing some light-jacket inspiration right in time for spring. I often forget that the nicer weather doesn't mean we have to abandon all texture entirely. Her corduroy coat is the perfect example of a fabric that adds just the right amount of warmth for these transitional times without feeling too heavy. Not to mention it adds some nice dimension to an otherwise fairly simple denim look. I'll be replicating this vibe until further notice—or at least until I can go jacket-free without any remorse.
